Same. I don't normally call people names on the internet, but something about how Mike Florio stands there and pretends to be an insider bugs me...

It seems that Janis only real hope of sticking around is his ST skills. As soon as a guy who can contribute more on the offense or defense steps up to be his equal on ST he will be gone.

Gotta thank Buckeye though, it had been at least a week since I heard the "7th round pick from a small school" excuse. I though it might have finally died out. Its like the 12 year veteran announcing what college he went to on MNF, pretty close to irrelevant by now.

You can thank me for reminding you that EVERY player drafted by The Packers isn't going to be a frickin' superstar when he walks on the field at Lambeau.

How long before some of you call Trevor Davis or one of the other late round draft picks a bust because he hasn't been able to get on the field due to better play from veterans?

I'm betting some of you won't give them till the end of the preseason.

Another year same old whining bullshit

If Jarrett Bush can last 9 years solely as a ST gunner, then Janis (who's better at it) can last at least 3 years doing it.
And yes, other players can fill the ST gunner role... but they can't do it at same level as Janis can.
So I still think Janis is a lock.

Is the log jam of Nelson and Cobb, really more impressive than the log jam of Charles Woodson, Al Harris and Tramon Williams? I might say the CBs are more impressive on that one.

Yes there are other WRs, but have they stepped up and proven enough to be considered logs? I feel like if I add them to Nelson and Cobb, that would just hurt their case against the CBs, because all of the CBs have proven to be starter worthy, while none of the other WRs have.

And Janis was MUCH better than Bush... Janis' breakout is the main reason that Tim Masthay destroyed his net punting yard average record by beating it by an average of 1.2 yards (which doesn't sound like a lot, but that HUGE!) and not only that, but Masthay also destroyed the Packers net punting yard average record which was set in 1963 by an average of 1.0 yards.

This doesn't make much news, because even that was still 14th best last season... as most other punters don't have to deal with GB weather. Heck 4 of the top 5 punters (in net punting yardage) last year have a dome at home games.

Bush stuck with the team not only because was our best gunner, but also because he could play both CB and S. So they could fill 2-3 spots deep on the depth chart with one body. If Janis can't hold the #6 spot on the depth at WR not sure just being a gunner will keep him around.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Bush still is the whipping boy around here at times but the Packers staff loved him for his versatility, he stuck around because he was serviceable at multiple roles and excelled at one (gunner).

Also although the Packers did have Harris, Tramon, and Woodson ahead of Bush there really weren't many draft picks invested into CB/S to replace him. Bush mostly beat out undrafted FAs and late round picks like Brandon Underwood, and got lucky when a few higher round picks busted (Pat Lee, McMillian).

The WR position is different imo because the Packers have 7 draft picks invested into the position, with no one expected to retire the next couple seasons it appears this logjam was by design.
