Since you brought up Delanie Walker in the rankings, I've wondered if teams thought it was a mistake to not sign him. He's earing less than $4.5 per year average and has gotten 1,978 yards and 10 TDs in the last two years.

Really I think it depends on if the TE that are on the Packers roster (now and after the draft) develop or not. Are Backman and Henry developed yet? Or will they be relying solely on Rodgers and Percillo again?

I don't think the Packers had an opportunity to sign Green, even if they wanted to. The Steelers were his his first visit and it was announced he was likely gonna sign there almost as soon as it was announced he was visiting.

The article doesn't say this, but I've got a feeling that another key part was a clearly open starting spot as the Steelers starting TE retired. There has been talk about Green becoming the starter for years, but Gates still isn't done yet... Green probably wanted more playing time and sure starting spot would most likely do that.

On a side note the steelers just paid 5 Million a year for a concussion riddled TE that also just had ankle surgery. Damn that sounds like a guy Ted Thompson always drafts lol

Also this is really interesting seeing the Steelers drafted Jesse James last year, which was a good pick. So now they have 2 young TEs to work with.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

BTW, ARTF= Aaron Rodgers Trust factor.

IMHO Green is just not that much better than what we got; but our prima donna QB either directly said no or tacitly said no to Lad Green, because the guy could NEVER run routes in GB offense.

Even guys like Tahir Whitehead and Rolando McClain are off the board.

There are still two players out there who could make for some very interesting options, though. Bruce Carter was a very good ILB when the Cowboys played a 3-4 defense. He's sucked every year after that when playing in a 4-3.

That's 3-4 Carter seems to be so long ago that teams don't remember or don't believe he still has it. It would be a real Ted Thompson signing, though.

The other one is Nick Farley. He generally plays well in contract years, so if you manage to get him on a 1-year deal, combined with the fact that he's being passed over in FA, he might play with a chip on his shoulder and be a bargain.

As to Ladarius Green... I would've loved to add him to our roster. Pittsburgh gets a bargain, because San Diego looks like it's making moves on emotions, rather than sense and reasoning. With Keenan Allen, Ladarius Green and Travis Benjamin, they could've had their receiving group set for the coming 6 years.
