GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a legitimate reason for pulling out of the Pro Bowl.

Rodgers underwent knee surgery within days of the team's Jan. 17 playoff loss to the Arizona Cardinals, he confirmed to ESPN on Friday night.

Aaron Rodgers didn't sit much in 2015, playing in all but 10 of the team's offensive snaps. But his production did dip compared to past seasons.

One source described the surgery as a minor scope and a "clean-up of an old injury."

Rodgers told ESPN that he is "doing well" and "recovering on schedule."

It's unclear when Rodgers' knee became an issue this past season, but he was hit on his left knee by Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah on Nov. 15. After the game Rodgers described the hit as "a little low" and said he was sore. The following week, the Packers listed Rodgers on the injury report, but for his shoulder, not the knee.

His fundamental footwork was totally off this season. I wonder if this is the reason why.

He did have that concussion like moment at Denver where it looked like he might be done for the night but he kept playing.

Hopefully, we'll get some answers from Aaron regarding his unusual season before the next one tees up.

The field is 160ft wide and its obvious you have never played the quarterback position, even sandlot ball. It just shows the lack of understanding the quarterback position, which isn't an insult or intended to be. Most people cannot/will not put themselves in the position of others.

**Newsflash** Aaron Charles Rodgers is human, he is not a machine, he is not perfect and he is going to make mistakes and he is going to miss throws and he is going to throw to someone covered when someone is wide open. He'll commit those mistakes less frequently than nearly every other quarterback in the NFL. If this is something we can't understand, we can't appreciate, then kindly phuck off! (just my personal opinion on the matter)

I just remember last TC about all the INT's he was throwing and how we were told that we shouldn't be concerned. Maybe, that has nothing to do with his season but I don't recall him ever having a TC like he had last season.

Personally, I don't think this had too much to do with his season being off. Now, his torn calf muscle is the thing I do wonder about. He said last offseason it was totally healed but it felt weird when you put your hand on it. I wondered if that calf messed up his mechanics but as I said above there was a reputable piece done about how his mechanics were as they always were. A calf, a knee, a concussion, perhaps, a change of play callers, no Jordy, and a lacking running game and a banged up oline and no speedy WR's. Yeah, I can see how all of that could add up to what we saw.

Pain in your knee can cause you to change the way you walk, run or throw. Anyone that doesn't think so never had an injured knee themselves.
