If you want to call that a legitimate face mask and horse collar, then you want about 20 more flags thrown per game.

I get why the call was made, I thought it was too when watching at game speed, but the replays show it was a reach for even ticky tack.

His hand was on his shoulder, not hooked inside of the shoulder pad. To my knowledge, that is not a horse collar.

If the Packers lost this way, would we agree with the call?

I get why they called it. At game speed and how the tackle appeared, I probably throw a flag too. However, I think you need some green 'n gold glasses to see the replay and think that was a legitimate HC/FM penalty...OR...as I said above you want about another 20 flags thrown every game.

I'm just saying that as fans, call that play what it is. I get this sense that we feel the need to defend the call with all our might so we can feel genuinely good about the outcome and not that we were gifted something by the refs. It looked like the right call at game speed, looks like the wrong call in slow motion. Stuff like this happens a lot during any game.

The Packers still earned the win. Despite the call, the Lions still had odds HEAVILY in their favor to win that game and they blew it on the last play, so kudos to the Packers.
