So, has any one heard if Rodgers has committed to continuing playing his NFL career? Gosh, after last season I hope he does. He still has some gas left in the tank. I also would feel accurate in saying his best games are still to come. Hopefully he doesn't hang it up too soon.

ONE MORE YEAR AARON!!

Turns out Brett did call him back, but Brett asked that Aaron not tell anyone. Aaron screwed up by even mentioning that he called Brett. Brett's not happy about it because he wanted it behind closed doors. Brett's still ticked at the Packers, but maintains his friendship with Aaron.

Kind of like your father listening to country then when hanging out with the 'guys' an a country song comes on and dad says 'turn that shit off' and you say 'but dad you like country'. Don't do that, it's not good.

Cheesey,

I can understand your point of view about Rodgers being honest and telling "His Side."

Hell, I have been called a Favre Hater. I do not think I am.

When I made my first visit to Green Bay, I was surprised by what many of the staff at the stadium told me about how Brett was all about Brett. Hell, the guy who owns the sports memorabilia store on Lombardi Way (I have his card, can not remember his name.) told me Brett was stuck on himself.

I asked some of the staff at Brett's Steak House if the Packers come in.... They had great things to say about some of the players. When I asked about Brett, a look came across their face. I could see it. They would only say, we do not know? He has uses a back door and his own room he uses in the back but does come after home games and watches the late games with friends, not many team mates.

However, I still feel Aaron does not need to go there. For Aaron's sake and for Brett's sake, and more important, for the teams sake.

Brett was one of the greatest of all time, but so was Johnny Cash, and I am reading his Autobiography right now and he was a prick at one time like so many of the greats in their profession.

BRETT HAS BEEN A JACK ASS.

OK. Many will confirm that.

THIS IS WHY I FEEL... It would be a crime for him to take over as the face of the Packers after Bart Starr. Bart Starr is a class act, always has been always will be.

If the Packers still offer Brett that 20 Million to be the face and market this team the Packers will have Fricked Up.

Perhaps, they could do that 5 years from now... But not until then. The wounds are still too fresh, and the man needs to be put into a humble chamber until he is inducted into the hall of fame. Perhaps then he will really appreciate his team mates, the fans, and his opportunity this organization gave him.

BUT as a QB... On The Field. He is one of the best, ever, when it comes to guts and glory.

I am rambling... Sorry.

R.P.

I hate long quotes, but I am quoting this entire post because I want you all to read it again. Why? Because this dovetails with my own experience.

A few years before Favre retired -- I think it may have been while I was in Iraq -- I had the privilege of talking to some people who lived in Green Bay. This was when I started taking Favre off the pedestal. Without exception, these Green Bay residents were all extremely critical of Brett Favre the person. They told me they were astonished and offended at the maudlin spin job the media had done on Favre over the past few years.

They said that before he went into rehab for his drug problems, everyone around Green Bay knew that he was an asshole. He was dismissive of the local reporters (while currying favor with the national media); rude to waitresses and cashiers; disrespectful to their wives; and a jerk to their kids, often refusing to so much as sign autographs. (One guy told me that his kid asked for an autograph and Favre's response was something like "Got fifty bucks?") He would go from bar to bar and get wasted almost every night with his posse; and the drunker he got, the more obnoxious he became. According to the people I talked to, a lot of his teammates couldn't stand him because he was cocky, arrogant, and selfish. Of course, no one could say a word about it publicly, because on Sunday, he almost always managed to pull it together and have a great game.

Then the bottom fell out from under him and his wife packed her bags. He begged her not to leave, promising one last time to change. She gave him another chance. Favre entered rehab for prescription painkiller addiction.

It was at this point that he became the All-American Good Guy in the national media. From this point on, Gunslinger Brett could do no wrong. These guys were die-hard Packers fans, but they said they found the media's behavior nauseating.

Of course these guys were all glad that Favre was the quarterback for the Packers. They just wished that the media hadn't pulled such a grotesque gloss job on the American public.

Obviously, I don't live in Green Bay, so I can't confirm the veracity of any of this. I'm just telling you what they told me.

actually he came home from a weekend of not being home to find all his stuff on the front yard. Denna was kicking him out...That si what she wrote in her book...

Bret tknew it was going in the book and wanted it in her book..So to me that shows he knew he was an asshole...

He then cleaned himself up and became a better man, husband and father..

He became a better person so why still hold onto that NOW..

I think the OP's point was that the past couple of years, Favre has demonstrated some of those same attributes -- admittedly in less virulent forms -- and that the media is still whitewashing his behavior. He may have a point.

Deanna told Brett that he needed to chose. Get help, or lose his family.

I've got strong confidence that when a kid came up to Brett (pre cleansing) that if he said 'got fifty bucks' he said it with a smile and was joking and still gave the kid the autograph. Surely you wouldn't hear that part of the story if the person wanted to shine a negative light on Brett.

When I think of that story, it reminds me of some run ins with players such as Sterling Sharpe. Now he used to be a huge ego maniac prick.

Favre signed for me when he came off the practice field in 1993. Of course that was before he became a big "star".
After that, i didn't see him sign for anyone.....adults or kids. When he came out or went into the locker room, he would wave to the people, but wouldn't sign.
I myself can't see why a player, i don't care who he is, can't take 10 minutes out a day to sign a few things. Even if some jerk just wants to sell it, how does that hurt him? He (not just Favre) makes a boat load of money, so who cares if someone makes a few bucks?
I have NEVER sold any of my autographs. Not ONE. They are for me.
I CAN see a player refusing to sign more then one item per person. Because that shows that the person is just looking to sell it.
It's the FANS that make the players rich. If we didn't watch them, they couldn't demand the huge amounts of money they make.
JMO of course.
