This is where the wheels come off.
JUST KIDDING! This Packers team has a tendency to play up to it’s competition, for at least the two quarters during which they actually show up. (Or sometimes down to their competition, as we saw last week.)
The problem for the past three games is that they haven’t shown up for those two quarters.
Well this is where the Packers love to be. They are now in a position with their backs to the wall, a truly “must win” situation. That’s where they put themselves in ’10 before they made their run. That’s where they put themselves in games on a routine basis. They are incapable of just playing well and putting other teams away.
If the Packers lose today (and I don’t think they will,) Mike McCarthy will be on the hot seat. They pissed away a Superbowl appearance (and quite likely a victory in that game) last year and now are doing the same with this season. But I do not believe they will lose.
The Packers will win this game, right the ship and make a playoff appearance, without having to earn the dreaded “Home Field Advantage.” Not sure how they’ll do in the playoffs, but they’ll be back to their usual “show up for two quarters and get a victory” lifestyle, and everyone will be happy again.
Will this “FAIL as much as you can before you really start trying” tendency cost Mike his job at some point? Yes. I just don’t think that time is now.
I’m a little bit disappointed in Aaron this week for, 1: faking an injury as an excuse for his statwhoring and shitty play and 2: hiding behind his girlfriend’s twitter account to attack Demovsky over his recent article suggesting that Aaron might be having relationship issues. When Greg Jennings sister did that, everyone reacted quite negatively.
