Meanwhile I've seen hundreds of "disc bulges" just like that get successfully treated without any surgery whatsoever. Therefore I conclude that the team doctor is incompetent and does not know wtf he is doing.

That's a far cry from what you said. And Nick was told for him to have any chance at playing, he needed the surgery. This is very common and transparent. Nick could have chosen no surgery and walked away. Nick made the choice, no one made him.

We have to stop thinking we are entitled to medical concerns of athletes. Know your role and accept it is not your business.

Not pointing at you Zero ... But - doing fusion surgery to a pro nfl player isnt a smart thing to do and expect him to recover and play. I know its common 'medical' practice to do this type of surgery; but others just as trained believe otherwise and have patients that recover and do not have the repercussions of surgery to boot (which in the nfl can end their career).

BUT... I have to wonder that IF he is done for the season, when or if the Packers will move him to the IR. (and they could still be doing more test to determine stuff). Then again even if they moved him to the IR, that doesn't mean they would do anything with his roster spot... as Ted Thompson has done it a number of times, left a roster spot open to give him freedom to make moves if/when a move is needed (and I think he left Nick Collins on the roster a while even after it was reported his career is probably over and clearly his season was over).

Normally it hasn't hurt Ted Thompson or the Packers but it did seem to tick off or piss off CB Jumal Rolle, who might of been ticked off before that, as he seemed (according to a number of fans) seemed to out play CB Goodson, and they kept Goodson, and didn't bring up Rolle when they had a free roster spot, so when he got an offer from the Texans, he was gone (even though rumor has it the Packers then offered a roster spot to him as well).

But if there is basically a free spot, I wouldn't mind locking up DL Gaston or TE Perillo (or someone better if they like someone more). Packers could also use more depth at TE, LB and S with possible injuries making those spots slim of healthy players.
