Barnett looked VERY disinterested last year prior to his injury. Lacked the reckless abandon that made him great previously....coinciding, sadly, with his getting paid handsomely. Don't know if his heart is fully in it now that he made bank.

Well Z this was pretty easy until Dfoster brought up Mr Miller so i will go with him. Everyone else on this team is open for trade. Yes very player is available for a price. As far as Jennings many people forget how many times we think we have a great wr through the years and something happens and we somehow just reload (Sharp, Brooks, Freeman, Walker, Driver and now Jennings). But damn man you need to keep the beer flowing and the pissers working or there would be riots in green bay lol.

Hmmm....I wonder why you don't say anything about Aaron Rodgers....

Anyway, here's mine:

1 Aaron Rodgers - Franchise QB, hard to come around with one of those
2 Greg Jennings - One of the best receivers in the league
3 Donald Driver - Simply because he still goes over the middle despite his age. Also a great man.

There's more, but I was told I can only have 3 haha.

The core group of players on any team is invaluable because there will always be transition. The deeper the number of core players a team has the less ripple affect by those coming and going.

A couple of years ago there was a thread regarding the importance of being a team player vs. individual talent and I could not believe the number of people who just could not see the importance of this. For many it was all about individual talent and just doing their own job very well.

This is a TEAM game and there needs to be continuity in the heart of the personnel that gives the players the steadiness they need knowing other guys has their back.

I would hope everyone here would know there better be more than three or four players that this team needs to have that core to work from and allows the transition guys to fit into. A critical base as a starting point.

We haven't had new teams come into the league for a long time now but when they did you all saw how long it took to get their act together. I think one team out all of them was successful early. The rest sucked for years. There's a reason for that.

I hope no one is thinking this is a trash the roster type thread.. moreso, it is hunting for the priority of the players and those that are truly considered "franchise" type players.

That was the main purpose of the thread, looking for those players that we simply cannot lose or deal.

But on the topic of cohesion of the roster, we do realize that the three years up to the 07 season when we went 13-3.. we massively turned the roster over season upon season.. not just turned over but with extremely young talent.

They jelled for a season and got on a roll, but massive roster turnovers lead to one thing... inconsistency. Think that describes the 08' season.. or he 06'... the link is there.

That is why, when looking at the roster, FA, and draft, I truly hope the approach isn't quantity over a few key impact players.

Hence the theme of the thread, we have a few chips that could be dealt if the right deal was presented to us, my question is which of those chips do you feel we cannot part with.

It isn't Ted's style to pull the trigger on a high risk trade, so I doubt very highly that any core young player will be dealt, instead Ted will most like use the draft to fill those slots. Or a reasonably priced FA on desire.

I happen to believe in the depth we have a receiver on this club and see other areas of extreme need.. that is why I don't see it imperative that Jennings can't be moved for the right package of proven player to improve the overall health of the team. Again, to be clear, it would have to be an extremely value deal.

But no worries, the days of impact trades are history.. I really am searching for the "Franchise" type players. Jennings is one, but also the deepest position of the club IMO.. give me a franchise left tackle or DE.. in his place, young and growing.. and I might have to pull the trigger.

Very nicely written.

I was thinking this, but didn't write it. That's why there was NO way I could cut it down to 3.

I get the logic, 93z, but my gut tells me that Greg's one of those players where if you trade him, you'll regret it (maybe not today, but tomorrow and for the rest of your life). You know, the ones we let go and they then go out and turn into the very best at their position and then proceed to come back to Green Bay periodically to kick the crap out of our beloved team.

Bad juju. No trade.

And I'm with the Zombie man - I can't limit it to 3, I think we've got a larger core of crucial talent than that.

1. Aaron Rodgers. This just looks like an obvious pick, because QBs don't just come around. Just look at the rest of the division.

2. Nick Collins. It would mess up our entire secondary. I know we'd still have some great corners, but we wouldn't have amazing safetys. Or we'd have to switch Woodson to safety yet again.

Erm... This would be Kampman, but I don't know now, since we're going to a 3-4, can't really say right now.

3. That means I'll go with Jennings if we resign him. I like Donald. I like Donald alot. But still, nothing changes that he's 33 and Jennings can stick around for another 10 years at least.

You never know maybe Detroit will offer us a 1st this year and a 1st next year for Jennings, oh wait that was Dallas that did that for Roy Williams my bad but like i keep saying everyone is trade bait. Someone asked earlier why i didn't list Rodgers (the so called franchise qb after 1 year lol) is because everyone has a price you offer me a high 1st and 2nd and he is gone without a doubt.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
