We don't have a topic started about Special Teams play? But we do have one about a defense that basically held the enemy to FG's if it weren't for Sam Shields bonehead offsides and the garbage time touchdown???

How often % wise is ST really on the field? ... Not that often. It's mostly offense and defense...

And the complains are more about the run defense (which let up over 100 yards in rushing in less than a half of a game) more so than the defense as a whole. To the run defenses credit, they did tighten up and play better in the second half... but really the both Packers were lucky the Bears called 35+ pass plays which played to their strength.


It'll be interesting to see how the next two games go... as both have very good power RBs... though it sounds like the Seahawks might not have the best OL.... of course that just could of been the Rams great DL making it look poor and against other teams they'll look better.

There were so many times where we had guys meeting Forte at the line of scrimmage or had Forte backed up behind his offensive linemen and he was able to break arm tackles or bounce the run the opposite direction. The players are in the right place but it is the non-existent tackling that has me worried. Outside of maybe three guys, the tackling of this defense is pretty horrific.

Clinton-Dix seriously needs some tackling practice as he is always dropping his head and whiffing. Not only is it bad practice but one day he is going to connect with that and hurt his neck.

Sam Shields tackling has declined. Yes, it was already bad. It is now worse.


Another issue was the pass rush. Unless Matthews was rushing from the outside, there wasn't much pressure outside of him and Peppers.

I was impressed with our other DBs. Randall played the ball well and his coverage was also decent.

Glad it's only week 1 and the team can build from this.

Nick Perry needs to be out there on run downs and we need Morgan Burnett playing out there to show up the tackling from the DB position.
