Packers defense seems like they're going to continue to struggle against the run. With the Bears having all their best WRs injured or banged up and Cutler at QB, the Packers dared the Bears to throw the ball as they loaded up against the run and the Packers still couldn't stop the run.

The Packers beat the Bears, but in the next couple of weeks the Packers have to face the Seahawks, Chiefs and Rams.... so the Packers defense are in trouble as they're about to face even better running games, with even more powerful OL whom have competent QBs...

I think it needs to be mention that SS Morgan Burnett is one of the Packers best run defenders was out... but still the Packers defense struggled a lot against the run.

1) We'll be better with Morgan back, and our other 2 defensive lineman. And maybe Dix will get a good lashing tonight.
2) The penalties made our defense look a lot worse than it was.
3) It was the first game of the year. Let's not panic.
4) Who gets cut this week?

Totally agree Beast. It was painful to see the run D effort we saw today. My only positive is our tendency has been to suck ass the first game and look still in pre-season mode. At least we got a win due to the Bears being a lower tier team. At least we got the 'Hawks at home.

I wonder if we'll ever have that feeling like back in '96 when you knew your defense would just mudstomp any opponent? Going into games trying relying on your offense to score 30+ points is not good strategy.

I'm by no means satisfied, but I'm not going to draw conclusions either. September has become preseason.

There were some uncharacteristically bad performances (shields) coupled with/o 3 starters for parts if not all of the game. Seattle gave up 34 too.

Again, by no means am I saying I'm happy watching Cutler "disect" this defense.

2) The defense made the defense look back... the penalties just put some more chances and points up... but the Bears were running all over the Packers... Forte averaged over 5.8 yards per carry.

3) Good point... Forte averaged 6.56 yards per carry in the first half, but only 4.5 in the second half. Of course Forte isn't Lynch and Cutler isn't Wilson.

4) Depends on injuries IMO... if Barrington goes to the IR then no one. If Burnett is fully healthy then maybe Banjo... other options probably include OG Taylor, DL Gaston and OLB Mulumba

I have concerns across the defense, particularly at linebacker. My other concern is our punter. To me, punting has become something I don't like to watch. I don't have much hope for Tim anymore. The defense, however, didn't concern me as much as I thought it would overall. They were pretty much bend but don't break, which I am cool with. I'll take that. My hope, and our need, is that a middle linebacker emerges opposite clay and that SOMEONE can rush the passer.

Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
