WHY in hell did they not cut the 9th O Lineman? Shit! Bonehead stupidity.

But honestly the 9th OL wasn't cut because the 9th OL played better than the 6th WR... so buh bye to the 6th WR...
If everyone stays healthy that 9th OL could be gone when one of the two DL suspension are up... but still the same overall number of linemen on the team.

White did cause an INT; but Jones did this several times as well and I wrote about him causing a pick 6 on Eli last week. The INT stuff is kinda about reliable route running; its specifically about seeing the same thing the QB sees in that split second. This skill can be honed by knowing playbook and watching film, but can only be perfected with on the job training [reps in practice and especially game reps]. White should not be condemned for this play; unless he learned nothing or it was caused by fear. I agree White is marginally talented; but he’s a reliable route runner that just needs more reps [This is where the CBA practice rules harm football’s future].

To run 100% of the no huddle and most of the offense we need 3 WRs who are RELIABLE route runners at multiple positions. RELIABILITY is more important than talent.

Jones is better than White in both. But, if we lose Cobb, Adams or Jones for a half/a game/a season, we need a 4th reliable guy. Abby not being IR’d means GB views him as that RELIABLE option. I’m really hopin’ Janis can contribute in various packages this year and the light comes on next and this is a certainty for Monty; but for the first half, at least, these guys probably will not possess the requisite reliability.

Given tough guy Abby’s paradoxical fragility, which hopefully is 100% behind us, White would be a nice PS injury reliability protection security blanket.

White better realize that most players get 3-4 years to impress someone or their life is relegated to Canadian, European and Arena football and veteran combines. The smartest thing for his career is to swallow his pride and join GB’s PS and hope he gets stats playing w/ AR. Then if he has to jump ship, he can sign a reserve/future deal elsewhere in January and go through that camp.

White’s fuss guarantees he doesn’t get claimed [Could the fuss be a rouse?] and I’m not certain he gets a PS spot from another team. But, if he does and we have injury issues that Abby can’t handle; then just sign White to our 53 off that PS. If his pride doesn’t allow him to take that offer, then he’s just too dumb to be a Packer WR.

Note: WR Williams that was signed to GB PS yesterday had a workout scheduled w/ Detroit, which he cancelled. Not sure who gets booted if White gets to PS.

The sky is falling the sky is falling.

I like the Jones signing I was hoping Banjo was going to be the one making room but White isn't a bad choice either. I don't think he's a prime candidate to get picked up on another team's 53 so there's a high probability we can promote him off the practice squad shall the need arise. With the only real veteran in the WR core being Cobb I welcome another seasoned hand incase Adams/Montgomery/Janis need some extra time to rise to the occasion.

The Packers are going to be fine.

I am so tired of hearing about this ceiling crap or the potential shit. What is so great about Janis on special teams? Did you not watch when they had him back returning punts against Pittsburgh? I struggled badly, hell he completely whiffed on a punt he was trying to catch, also i didn't see him doing anything special on tackling.

Also liked hearing that early in camp it sounded like Janis almost blocked a couple of kicks and was getting the closest... which even if he doesn't get there sometimes you just need to get in the kickersecond head.

Janis just offers us a fast straight line guy... but that's still more than White offered.

I wonder if Donald Driver would have found another team in his last 2 or 3 years with the Packers.

Jones probably still has enough gas in the tank to contribute. No reason he shouldn't be around at least the 50 catch mark this year. He won't be lights out, but he'll be a reliable target and veteran presence in the receiving corps and be well worth what the Packers are probably paying him.

Where did all this sappy Myles White love come from all of a sudden?

Being compared to Julian Edelman/Wes Walker? Give me a break.

He was a 5th/6th string WR who benefited from Jordy Nelson's injury.

Jones is what the team needed last year, and what the team needs today. He was always a good 3rd down possession WR and a Redzone threat. He has also always been an excellent blocker.

Well that or a TE who'd do his job on ST and not play hero... letting Nelson go for the ball instead of the Seahawks players.

While I feel bad for the guy on a personal level, and admire his effort, this angst over Myles White is hilarious. The guy didn't "earn" a spot, had Nelson and Abbrederis been healthy White was the #7 WR. He needed two injuries just to break the 53. If Myles White was worthy of a spot on an NFL roster one of the other 31 teams would have claimed him. The guy had 3 years to prove he was something other than a guy that could be replaced by a street free agent and he couldn't do it.

Yeah, he caught some balls in the preseason. So what? Theres a never ending supply of guys like Myles White, Chastin West, and countless others who I cant remember that catch some balls in the preseason and never amount to anything.
