I wasn't for the Packers trading a draft pick for him at all. That would have been a bad decision. But signing his as a free agent and for cheap? That's a win. He's easily the 3rd or 4th best WR for the Packers this season. Instantly. And since he was cut, the signing doesn't count against compensatory selections either, right? Ted Thompson special.
I do find it odd that neither the Raiders nor the Giants couldn't find a place for him, though. Neither team was paying him that much, especially the Giants. If he was truly still a good WR, you would think at least one team would have found a spot for him despite all of the other factors (special teams, money, etc.). Maybe both teams feel as if they won't be serious super bowl contenders anyway, so why not go with younger guys that can play special teams?
Either way, very little downside to this signing for the Packers. There will always be a dozen other Myles White's to sign if need be, likely including White himself.
