I would have never guessed that Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson were similar in straight line speed.

The Green Bay Packers have gone from having an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver to having more than enough to score a ton of points in unison with Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy and a veteran offensive line.

Davante Adams might never have practiced better in Green Bay than he did last week. He made at least half a dozen either one-handed or leaping catches over defenders and didn't drop a ball.

Remember, Nelson ran 40 yards in just 4.54 seconds before the 2008 draft. Adams, who at 6 feet 1 is 1½ inches shorter than Nelson but about the same weight, ran 4.55.

That piece talked about Janis playing outside with 88 cent and Adams with RC18 spending most of his time in the slot.

paranerd's head is going to explode if Janis carries us to a championship. Get on board or shut up!

Now, there is no doubt Janis makes this team and will be relied on, at least initially, to help mitigate the loss of Jordy.

Just remember...Jordy and Aaron have been together from the time Aaron took his first snap as a starter...that's 7 years together. That's rare. Give some of our guys half that time with Aaron and you might see similar results.

Bob McGinn wrote what should be considered a positive piece...he is usually ripped for writing negative pieces that I find objective. He's being objective here also but it comes off positive.

Can't wait to see the new look Packers.

BTW: Nelson ran 4.51 not the time Bob quotes. Not sure where he got the time in the article but 4.51 was Jordy's time and Davante's combine was 4.56. Cobb's was 4.46. Janis 4.42 and 88 cent 4.55. White was 4.42 but not at combine he claims to have run 4.30 before... Pinkard 4.51 at a pro day so he'd be likely slower at combine had he been invited.

Nelson had previously run 4.62 for scouts prior to the combine while rehabbing his knee.

The subject of WR has been interesting the last few weeks of how many we keep. Losing Nelson makes it even more interesting.

Do we keep 6 now? We have a lot of unknowns at WR as the experience level of our guys is quite low. Do we keep 6 until we know what we have so we don't risk them being scooped on the PS? Or do we put one down in the PS and if somebody goes to scoop them do we not then have the option to move them up to the 53?

Thinking Abberederis and Pinkard get cut and go to PS.

Cobb, Adams, Janis, 88 cent and White are the 5 we keep. Not thrilled with that group but I'm guessing now due to Nelson's injury White wins last spot just because he has been around for 3 years now...gives him big advantage considering how little experience we have at the position. Pinkard beats White if Jordy doesn't go down as he has better upside and fitment for this offense.

I’m a next man up guy, don’t want vets taking cap space, reps and roster spots from the youngins. But WRs don’t plug and play in MM’s system and I would say it is impossible for rookies to be proficient. At best, Monty is only going to be proficient at one position by mid season and hopefully 2 by PO time. For our offense to click we need 3 WR who know the system. Last year Cobb and Jordy were 100% proficient, 100% of the time and Boykin knew the system [but had other issues] and Adams was probably 15-20% proficient at beginning of year and 60% proficient by year end. As a 2nd year player I doubt he’s more than 80% proficient. White is probably close to 100% proficient, so, at the moment we’re okay.

If Abby came back today, I’d bet he’d get to 80% proficiency by week 1, though I don’t understand why he’s not back at practice, he must have a neck/back issue too, it is not just a concussion.

And I have yet to “watch the game,” [got post-Jordydom depression], but I saw a fast guy like Janis looking ordinary, usually that’s because his movements are dictated by thinking and not instinct. I fear Janis is in that 30-40% proficiency stage, which means he can only contribute at best at one position.

It will help greatly that Rodgers is infinitely more proficient than he was at this time last year.

If Cobb gets injured we are in big trouble; the offense will need to be “dumbed-down” so Monty, Janis and the Pinkard-types can contribute. If Addams or White gets hurt and Janis and Abby haven’t stepped up our O will be very limited and may still need to be “dumbed-down.”

We need another WR if Janis and Abby aren’t right now able to be 80% proficient in the O!!!!!!!!

Having James Jones covering one outside spot will allow Adams, Janis Monty and/or Abby a chance to grow their proficiency gradually without harming the O and provide valuable injury protection, is the only way to go. With Jordy out, gotta believe James would love to come back, he’d instantly go from #5 WR to starter. This sucks because it will inhibit the development of Monty, Janis, White and Abby and the 53rd guy, who will now be cut might be snatched by another team.

I’d bet the Packers-Wayne rumor came from Wayne’s agent, so maybe Ted Thompson thinks Janis and/or Abby are ready; if not Ted Thompson is talking to the Giants as this is being written.

This just in! DD is available. Lets just pull in every old WR instead of giving the young guys a chance.

Our starting center was hurt at the end of training camp last year. Rookie draft pick stepped up and did pretty dang good. Let's see what Monty, Janis and White can do. (Abby is done. Wake up folks.)
