but there has never been a QB who performs like Aaron Rodgers.

Not going to argue with that. Hard to choose between Luck, Brady, and Rodgers. I think Rodger's a bit overrated. Not to say he's not great, but he's not a god.

Under this premise, I can't wait until a kicker has no one in his class!

Ha ha...I like the dig there. A kicker can only make all of his attempts. The really good ones only miss a few a year so it'd be hard to find one who stands out like Watt does as a DE.

Can you think of another player who would be more in demand who plays defense in the NFL than JJ? Would there be anyone even close?

With Rodgers... you could say you'd take Luck or Brady instead of him and be almost as good as you would be with Aaron. Give me a defender you think is in JJ's class?

That's obviously the case now with the Texans, Colts, and Patriots. Of course the NFL has a QB/offensive bias, but it is what it is and that's the reality. So I want the player that will help my team the most given the current constructs of the league and the rules. That would be an elite QB, of which Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best. Luck isn't quite there yet. Too many interceptions. He'll likely get there, but not yet.

Rodgers "merely" being arguably the best, perhaps #2, QB in the league doesn't mean he isn't a better player than JJ Watt, it means that Watt being the best defender in the league puts him in a tier below all of the elite QBs. Watt may be more better, relative to his peers, than Rodgers is, but again, that doesn't mean anything tangible here. Swapping Rodgers for Watt would make the Packers a worse team, thus Rodgers is the better, more impactful player.

Also let's be totally honest here, Rodgers is as good as Watt is relative to his peers when you compare Rodgers to nearly all of the other QBs in the league. The fact that there are a few exceptionally good QBs doesn't take anything away from how great Rodgers is. You might find 4-5 QBs per year with similar stats to Rodgers, but if you look back over the past 5 years or so, he's the only one performing at that level consistently. That's why many say he's the best, at least in the regular season (in the playoffs, I would take Brady, Montana, or Starr).

If there was a draft tomorrow of all current players, I would take Rodgers, Luck, Brady, Brees, maybe even P Manning, Wilson, Rothlesburger or Romo before I would take JJ Watt. A superstar DE doesn't win many games, as evident by the Texan's W/L record the last few years.

I've already said, in this topic, that take Rodgers and Watt and swap them and we become what the other one is right now. Packers would suck like Houston with Watt, and Texans would be perennial playoff contenders with Rodgers.

I know I'd take Aaron. Watt is just a far better player than Aaron relative to his peers. I don't even think that's an argument.

They have a running game at times when Foster isn't hurt, but then you have to subtract Watt off that defense and now your hoping to outscore your opponents because your defense won't stop anyone. You put Watt on the Packers and I still think they make the playoffs because then they would have an awesome defense and a good running game and Tolzein at qb that just would have to mange the game and with the wide outs they have it should be done like we did with Flynn.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I certainly think Tolzien is in a position to get it done at this point. He'd certainly have talent around him. Hundley's in the pipeline as a backup.
