Richard Rodgers’ 4.76 drop rate last season combined with Quarless’ 5.88 and 6.45 drop rates for the last two seasons are all three lower than any season Finley had in his career outside of 2010 where he only played five games.

I thought they did try to force it to Finley at times.

The combination of Richard Rodgers and Quarless at tight end this year catching what is thrown to them, not commanding passes, and simply working within the offensive system is-to me-a better option for the Packers offense than someone like Finley. There is no doubt that Finley is the more talented player of the three, but I think the Packers offense works better whenAaron Rodgers is allowed to find the open man and not simply relying on any one player to hopefully make the play, especially at tight end.

I think RR has the potential to put up stats in this offense. I've said it before. He doesn't have top end speed, but remember, this is a cold weather team. That gets mitigated when the games start to matter. There's alot of guys on this team with "marginal" speed. Most of them play faster than they officially time, but part of that is also what happens in November, December and beyond.

Obviously Richard Rodgers needs to work on his run blocking abiltiy, which was at times last season dreadful. I am willing to let it slide considering it was his rookie year in hopes that he can at least get it up to Finley's level. Which was mediocre, but that's all the Packers are really asking out of him.

Richard Rodgers has the ability to be someone who is between just being a check down safety valve and a elite pass catching option, which is perfect for this offense.

Richard Rodgers will never do what Finley did for us and that's open up the field for other guys. Finley demanded gameplanning from opposing D. coords...RR never will.

Wonder if Mike, oops, I mean, Barfarn will comment further on this?

REALITY 101

Finley.... Freak athlete and could stretch a defense . Made teams game plan around him. Also dumb as a box of rocks and one of the biggest mouths I ever saw/heard who played in GB.

Rodgers more of a atypical pro TE. 4.78 speed means he won't stretch a defense but he was a very good BB player ( NOTE Rodgers averaged 17.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 4.1 steals and 3.4 assists playing basketball. Rodgers was named to the starting five on ESPNBoston's MIAA All-State Boys Basketball Team )

Rodgers has a more laid back demeanor and no issues picking up the playbook.

Conclusion is that no RR won't be as explosive as Finley however he maybe a great redzone threat and a nice " FIRST DOWN !!" TE.

Different players but both valuable.

Oh, I know to most the 40 is completely meaningless but they don't run it if it doesn't count for something. To run slower than 18 DL is pretty embarrassing especially given this guy also played WR.

Finley didn't fit the Packers mold. RR does. One guy had true star abilities...the other a steady plodder. I don't miss Finley's drops but I do miss the colorful side of him that is missing with our current team.

Yes, different players...one was pretty gifted...the other is like untold numbers of ordinary TE's that come in and out of this league.

I know, I know, faster guys are always better just because they are faster.

Mucky Tundra (9m) : seems to me the 49ers should have traded Aiyuk when they had the chance
Mucky Tundra (9m) : if the Eagles get it down to the 1, do they Tush Push or give it to Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (10m) : 49ers have a money problem if they want to sign their QB
Mucky Tundra (12m) : Wait for real? Didn't he just get an extension two years ago?
Zero2Cool (13m) : 49ers gonna trade Deebo. Interesting
TheKanataThrilla (17m) : Replays always never seem to show the holdings
TheKanataThrilla (22m) : Great throw by Hurts
Mucky Tundra (29m) : Where Carter falls prey to bad off the field influences (to be clear, not saying he'd clip someone though)
Mucky Tundra (29m) : Had Carter not gone to Philly were they already had a lot of old college friends, he ends up in a similar spot to Aaron Hernandez
Mucky Tundra (31m) : I think some of his coaches told scouts to stay away
Mucky Tundra (32m) : the street racing incident+conditioning and motivation problems
beast (36m) : Then Carter was street racing, where the other car crashed and people died... and other teams were scared to pick Carter for some reason
beast (37m) : I think the Saints traded up, giving their next year 1st to the Eagles, and then they sucked and Eagles got the 10th overall pick
packerfanoutwest (40m) : wtf Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (47m) : Getting Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round in 2023 was pretty darn good
Mucky Tundra (55m) : for some reason i'm thinking of a draft where the Eagles where in the mid 20s and a top player fell all the way to them
TheKanataThrilla (55m) : I think so. I would need to look it up. Think it may have been Carolina's pick.
Mucky Tundra (56m) : i'm not sure who i'm thinking of now
Mucky Tundra (56m) : oh fuck me i messed that up
Zero2Cool (56m) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
Zero2Cool (56m) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (57m) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (58m) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (1h) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (1h) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (1h) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (1h) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (1h) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (1h) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
Mucky Tundra (1h) : And with a Pass Rush that might as well be on a milk cartoon and no Jaire
Martha Careful (1h) : I cant help but feel good about how well the Packers D played in Philly during the playoffs
Mucky Tundra (1h) : this game is over
Mucky Tundra (1h) : This might be the kill shot here
Mucky Tundra (1h) : oh that's such a bad penalty for KC after getting the 3rd down stop
TheKanataThrilla (1h) : Philly DL has come to play
TheKanataThrilla (1h) : Ceoper DeJean with the INT scored...bad memories of draft night
Mucky Tundra (1h) : ok scratch that
Mucky Tundra (2h) : Game feels like last years Super Bowl: 49ers started off in control, moved the ball well but didn't have much of a lead to show for it
TheKanataThrilla (2h) : KC jumped and they call it on Eagles. WTF refs
TheKanataThrilla (2h) : If he was offside why did you let him pop the QB?
TheKanataThrilla (2h) : I like that Eagles are controlling time of possession so far.
Mucky Tundra (2h) : If the Eagles are going to win, this is how they do it: jump all over the Chiefs and don't let it turn into a close one
TheKanataThrilla (2h) : Bad throw created that penalty.
TheKanataThrilla (2h) : Amazed Philly got that hit to the helmet call.
packerfanoutwest (2h) : refs just called an OPI,,,bullshit
dhazer (3h) : final score Chefs 24 Eagles 21 Refs 3
Mucky Tundra (5h) : feels like it hurts everyone but starters
Mucky Tundra (5h) : *cut down on snaps that
Mucky Tundra (5h) : beast, no not at all. Just seems counterproductive to cut down on snaps to help back ups get playing time and get potential money after cuts
Zero2Cool (7h) : So, Jets tell Rodgers they're moving on? QB2 for Packers haha
