Matt Bowen

Adams can play, he's a fit for the Packers' offensive scheme, and the arrow is definitely pointing upward as he enters his second year in the NFL.

This Matt Bowen guy doesn't know much about football, does he?

This offseason, Adams has drawn high praise from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for his athletic ability, study habits and overall development. This is a guy who has the size (6'1", 212 pounds), leaping ability and playmaking skills to produce after the catch.

I don't see any one stopping the Packers this season. They are going to run ape shit over the entire league ala 2007 Patriots.

I'm not trying to be negative at all, just asking a question. Why is everyone so much higher on our offense this year than they were last year. It's all the same players, and we currently have an unknown as the play caller.

Davante is blasting into superstardom. A lot of 3rd WR's make just huge impacts on their teams offensive performances. Also, Richard Rodgers is about to become Rob Gronkowski.

Aaron's calf is better than it was before the injury.

M-M (Mediocre Mike) is FINALLY outta the way.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Takes a pretty Damn good GM to be able to keep these guys together for another run at #14!

I think where Rodgers will make the biggest impact won't be from the overall numbers he puts up. He will still be the #3 WR as Nelson and Cobb will still get their looks. I think R. Rodgers will improve and warrant more looks from A. Rodgers and I think they will try to keep Lacy involved in the passing game at least as much as last year. All that points to not a whole lot more opportunities for Adams. I'd say something like 50/600 with 5 TDs which is certainly an improvement but I don't know if I would call it breakout. I just don't know if you can expect much more than that from a #3 WR. I don't care how good he is there are only so many balls to go around.

Where he can and I think will improve and provide the biggest impact is the situations where he steps up his game. Where he becomes that 3rd down, move the chains, go to guy. That guy who can be counted on for 8/120 and a TD or two if Nelson or Cobb are shut down (and they will be on occasion) A super reliable #3 WR who will provide a solid dependable target if and when Rodgers has to look his way. That guy who can kick a defenses ass if they think all they have to plan for is Nelson and Cobb. That guy (or at least another one of those guys) who Rodgers can count on to be in the right place at the right time if things break down.

This is where I think Adams will make his biggest contribution.

Adams will breakout this year and Jordy and Cobb's numbers will suffer because of it. That said, the Packers offense will flourish because of the fab trio dominating the league. No team has 3 CB's that can stop each of them at the same time.

A-Rod said that towards the end of last year, opposing defences finally started bringing an extra safety into the box to counter Lacy.

If that continues with any sort of consistency, I get excited at the prospects of a single safety in coverage. If, for example, we have a 3-WR set with Lacy in the backfield, and an extra Safety has to come into the box (to compensate for a DB replacing a LB in the opposing defense), at least 2 of Cobb / Nelson / Adams will have single coverage.

Heck, Nelson proved time and time again last year that he is routinely able to beat double coverages with exceptional route running. Alternatively, if no safety comes down, I'm more than happy to let Lacy pound the ball.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure even I as a play-caller could screw up the Packers offense being very good -- despite having no previous play-calling or NFL experience.
