Not sure what your point is? I should think his TD vs. Dallas was some special play due to his unique ability? There isn't 50 or more WR's in the NFL right now who couldn't have made that play? It wasn't special.

Younger. Stronger. Faster. Cheaper. How many reasons do you want? It is a game of replacement. Deal with it.

Speed? Ah, that's nonsense...it isn't any kind of way to judge a WR now is it? Speed doesn't matter at all. Boykin's hands were an inch and a half bigger than Davante's. Boykin had incredible hands...was smart and savvy. Was far more synced with Rodgers than Davante was.

It's a game of replacement deal with it? Wow. So should we cut Davante and replace him with Ty Montgomery this year? It is a game of replacement? No...we wouldn't do that. Why did we do it with MM's darling, Jarrett Boykin who was CHEAPER than Davante.

JB was an inch taller. Davante's arm length was a whopping 3/8 of an inch more. So catch radius is about the same but Boykin is taller. Davante jumped 3.5 inches higher. The real difference? Boykin was TURTLE slow. That's your difference. SPEED. We replaced a turtle with a show pony when we could've gotten a racehorse.

I actually liked Boykin as a WR but it seems Rodgers really didn't like him for some reason. He actually played 277 snaps this last year but only got 12 passes thrown to him. We saw he had enough talent to produce if he got the ball but there must have been some locker room stuff going on with him or something.

Is he going to be CHEAPER?

So, on our team which is "draft and develop" one must be "drafted" to be developed? Boykin's two previous years of being with this team and being "developed" counted for nothing and we just decided to replace him with someone who is pretty much just like him save for the speed? The experience and camaraderie of being a Packer for three years with his production meant he should be replaced on a draft and develop team?

Again, makes a ton of sense to burn a 2nd round pick on WR who is basically Jarrett Boykin.

Steve must be on to something because it really doesn't make much sense.

Watch his catches from the Packers/Cowboys playoff game, its a great sample of what he provides. He breaks atleast one tackle on almost all of the catches that game, including a couple of clutch 4th quarter catches.

On one of the plays his inside route is well covered but showing his poise for a rookie he breaks off the route outside and Rodgers finds him as the play breaks down.

A number of the catches are shorter routes where Adams doesn't burn by his defender but a well run route and quick first step leaves him enough separation to get the ball in. Once the pass is in his hands he uses his size to muscle through a couple corners and on the touchdown shows enough elusiveness to leave a linebacker/safety in his dust.

The last catch with 2 minutes and change is probably the best example of why you should be excited about Davante Adams. Its a catch he has to make, the ball wasn't in the best spot (a little high and inside instead of towards the outside shoulder). Adams though goes up and catches it at the high point and outworks the corner for the ball, then abuses him for another 15 YAC to seal the game.

And they probably figured the WR crop was deep and they'd land one in the draft.

That depth there is why Jarrett Boykin chose to go elsewhere in hopes of more playing time. Packers liked him on Special Teams, he wants to be a WR. This is similar to Desmond Howard back in '97 when Oakland promised him WR3. He took the money and the assurances.

Nothing clearly says the Packers did NOT want him. They did, as a Special Teams player. Regardless, I thought this was about Adams and his value as a 2nd round pick?? 😁

If Adams proves himself worthy of a big contract he will get one starting in 2018. Like Randall Cobb did this year. If he is as you claim, nothing special, ho-hum, run of the mill (Jarrett Boykin 2.0)... Adams will be replaced by someone younger, cheaper, and possibly stronger, faster. That is how it works. It is a game of replacement.

Except Stronger, Younger, Faster, and Cheaper.

I get what you're trying to say and I feel there is enough substance for a valid argument. That said, J.Worthy was a 2nd rounder too so the grass isn't always greener. The bottom line is we used a 2nd on a 22 year old making about 890k (less than our long snapper) who had some good production last year.
