So, on our team which is "draft and develop" one must be "drafted" to be developed?

The window for developing players into something special, a "Core Player," is shorter for an UN-drafted guy. UN-drafted players are cheap for 3 years, drafted guys are cheap for 4 years. After that they have to be pretty special to stick around and not be replaced by someone younger and cheaper.

Even a superstar like Eddie Lacy... Obviously a keeper this year and next at ~$1M per year. After that? It wouldn't be popular with fans but ... there is no guarantee they pay a 27 year old RB his market value if they find someone younger and cheaper.

To quote Mike McCarthy "Stats are for losers". Unquote.

Side note: maybe next time he'll have a target of having more points than the other team before end of regulation?

The last catch with 2 minutes and change is probably the best example of why you should be excited about Davante Adams. Its a catch he has to make, the ball wasn't in the best spot (a little high and inside instead of towards the outside shoulder). Adams though goes up and catches it at the high point and outworks the corner for the ball, then abuses him for another 15 YAC to seal the game.

Nerd, c'mon man... No way Janis goes up and gets that? That isn't knowable by you or anyone else.

Man, it'll be nice to see these two this pre-season and then this season.

All this talk about Janis, and you don't even hear the coaches raving about him, or even talking him up much.

Nothing out of the coaching staff indicates he is ready for a role in the offense, yet.

Even Janis himself is talking like his goal is just "to contribute on special teams."

Why are we still discussing him?

BTW, since this thread is more exciting when talking about Janis... ha....

In lieu of a new thread... There is a video posted at Packersnews.com about Janis. It's pretty obvious why he didn't play last year and may not make the team this year. Rodgers spoke last and said there can't be any mental errors if you want to play with the 1's and said things about trust between him and the offensive staff. So, clearly, Janis wasn't mentally sharp enough to play last year. He may not be there, yet, either.
