I had Adams as a 1/2 on my board.

Had Abbrederis but not Janis on my board.

Yes , YOU go back and look, the ONLY player you said you thought was worth while drafting was Abby!

I forgot you post so much bullshit, you can't. Remember yourself.

I liked Bradford, Abby, Janis and Lyerla from the UDFA's. I was okay with Linsley. I was mildly okay with Dix, bummed about Adams, didn't care either way on Thornton and was livid with Richard Rodgers. Go back and use the search feature.

There is no doubt that Adams and then Rodgers were the two picks I was most upset about.

I love your posts Barfarn but I don't like when you hold back for trying to make a point. You know full well that defenses play the run more with Eddie Lacy in the Packers backfield than they did back when James Jones was a rookie. Of course, when a defense is more focused on the run it's harder to run against it. It isn't about run average, it's about defensive commitment.

You really seem dismissive of 40 times when they aren't flattering to our players. It is, has been, and will continue being a major measure used by NFL scouts and GM's who are paid good money to find the right guys. There are examples of slower players performing quite well...Emmitt, Jerry Rice, Curtis Martin, etc...but if you had to choose, you would hope all your skill guys ran 4.3 vs. 4.4 or 4.5 or higher. How many times do you hear... He WOULD'VE gone a lot higher had her run better in Indianapolis?

Both Adams and Jones were the 3rd option; in 2014 the 1-2 options were far better than the 2007 1-2 options [Driver and 2nd year Jennings, who missed 5 games combined]; It was easier in 2007 for Jones to succeed than Adams in 2014. And the run game in 2007 was a little better.

I am dismissive about speed; just like I'm dismissive about whether a guy eats Washington or Granny Smith apples...BECAUSE IT DOES NOT MATTER! Speed is MEANINGLESS!!!! As another pointed out, the fastest, Skeets Nehemiah, sucked.

It's FOOTBALL SPEED that is the critical measurable. Skeets had no football speed; Jerry Rice's FOOTBALL SPEED was amongst the fastest of all WRs of all time. Though CM3 runs the 10 yard in 1.49, which is much faster than my 2.48 [LOL, is it even possible to be this slow?]; if I recognize where the play is going one second before CM3 does; I'm faster to the play 10 yards away than CM3.

99% of the time WRs dont get separation with their legs; they get it with their MIND [Recognizing the perfect moment to cut]; then being open dont get them the ball unless the QB expects them to be there; the WR must KNOW where he's supposed to be and when. A WR being open meaningfully is about the MIND...not the legs!!!

Now, that we've fleshed this out here it will be a blast following Adams and Janis this season. I honestly don't believe Adams will ever come close to being a great WR for us. Terry Mickens. That's him. Heck, Mickens was probably a lot stronger, too, but he did diddly and got few ops over the years. The guy is a possession receiver. He's Jarrett Boykin. Not sure he's really all that much of an upgrade as Boykin had tremendous hands and knew how to play. JB was a decent possession WR. In comparing a 2nd round pick vs. where JB came from, I don't think there's enough of a difference, if at all, to justify wasting a 2nd on Adams.

There was a piece on him back after he was drafted saying he was very close to the range where a WR won't be drafted. He ran 4.56 at the combine. He was the 15th ranked WR for speed at the combine out of 17 guys. Only 15 were drafted.

Hopefully, I can find the piece because I know you won't take my word for it...he was dangerously close to not being drafted at all due to his POOR, and it was POOR 40 time. This is an issue. You can say it isn't because you don't want it to be but he lacks speed just like Jarrett Boykin.

I'll take your word for it but unless the 2 that weren't drafted were the #16 and 17th ranked guys it shoots your theory all to hell.

Adams had a few drops but he looked pretty strong attacking the ball and catching with his hands. He also broke/evaded quite a few tackles and actually attacked tacklers and fought for yards instead of going down or running out of bounds all the time. I know some of that goes against his "prospect evaluations" from before the draft but all that stuff along with his combine #s are irrelevant now. I'm just talking about what I saw out of him on the field.

If I am thinking of someone else who kept saying stuff like "we need a fast Corey Bradford type guy" I'm sorry

Has there ever been a 7th round pick thats gotten this much hype in Green Bay? Like most fans I hope Janis earns a spot on the roster this year and shows what he can do. As a realist he's a 7th round pick at a deep position, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he turns out to be a one trick pony and doesn't make the team.

Davante Adams however showed enough to me last year where I'll be highly surprised if he's not entrenched at the #3 spot all year. I think what Cobb said is spot on, neither he nor Nelson will put up as big of #s again now that Adams is on the scene.

The offense is going to break records the next three years, should be fun.
