Remember these types of columns and blog posts following recent Packers playoff exits? If you're too lazy to click the link, the column calls the Packers "too soft to join the NFL's elite.' Defensive issues, particularly in the area of "toughness,' have plagued the Packers since winning the Super Bowl four seasons ago. With the exception [...]

(IMO)Dom needs to quit selling out on coverage once a lead is established - I am all for nickel D with a 2+ posession lead, but the opponents should have to at least think twice before running it.

The defense will probably be the achilles heal of the Packers again this year and once again be labeled "soft".
Until they are able to stop teams from running all over them, the well earned "soft" reputation will be hard to shake.

My 2 concerns going into this year are red zone offense and stopping the run. Both sides of the ball have issues that need to be fixed.

If you strive for dominance, you don't play not to lose a lead.

You keep hammering. You don't say "well, let's change what we're doing to keep the ball away from them." You keep hammering.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The toughness of the Packers was forever tarnished when Randy Moss did the fake moon and not a single Packers defensive player knocked him flat on his ass. You take the 15 yard penalty on the kickoff to send a message that this is OUR HOUSE and no one does that in OUR HOUSE!

I know that was over a decade ago and completely new coaching staff, roster, etc ... but for me ... that was the epitome of being soft. I haven't seen anything in the defense to make me feel otherwise. Desmond Bishop's play was getting me there and then his body folded like a water logged cardboard box.
