A pair of subpar seasons by Green Bay Packers veteran defender B.J. Raji in 2012 and 2013 were the catalysts for major question marks which hung over the defensive line rotation heading into 2014 … and the major influencer in bringing in Letroy Guion. Guion in and of himself isn't a good or bad investment. What Ted does is ASSESS VALUE. Is Guion worth Aaron Rodgers money? No. But they're not paying him that.

I LIKE the idea that we have a low cost player playing NT. The reason I like that is if we committed big money to somebody playing there, the tendency would be to keep him on the field more downs. The Packers D is best when they go small and mobile in the D Line - either somebody like Daniels or Boyd at the nose or an even man line - just two down linemen or four down with two not oversize DTs. Guion filled that role very well last season - oversize NT who comes off the field a lot.
