Chief Jeff Johnson said... "I just want him to make better decisions in the future," Johnson told the Journal Sentinel. "That is what this is all about."
So they weren't holding Guion's assets up because of a principle grounded in law; but to teach Guion a lesson?????! Redneck racist krackers=STarke PD
We spoke of how the cop in his deposition found probable cause by supposedly driving behind Guion smelling pot smoke; but another interesting thing in the deposition is that the Cop's story of how he came across Letroy in the first place.
The Cop identified his location, when his shift ended and stated that he was going to a Kangaroo 301 and Brownlee to get a beverage before heading home. So he traveled north on Old Lawley Rd and spotted Guion's truck on Old Lawley. But if you were at Old Lawley and North St. you'd drive SOUTH [probably turning left on North St. and left on Water St. ] to Brownlee because you're just over 1/2 mile from that Kangaroo. So this cop said he went NORTH which would have brought him to Market to 301 and South to Brownlee, which is a 4 mile trip and you pass another Kangaroo at Market and 301.
The cop also spoke of how he crossed a set railroad tracks. Duh, there are no railroad tracks between Old Lawley/ North St. and where Guion was stopped [the tracks cross market street].
I'm guessing this is why the $$$ and truck were returned; I hope the federal prosecutor goes into this area to clean it up.
A real reporter, out to deliver a fair and balanced report would have known how the deposition was full of stupid stupid lies. This MJS is a tabloid.
