Packers GM in market for drafting a backup QB, but whether he'd spend what it might take to get Petty is another question

Let's face it, Aaron is getting up there, and he's starting to "pull a Brent" with his demand to run the offense through Clements. No guarantee he's gonna hold up a whole season either.

What I think of his qualifications really doesn't matter and certainly doesn't have any connection to anything that Aaron Rodgers is "demanding." I'm sure the decision was made because Mike McCarthy et al. thought it was best for the team. That doesn't mean he's right, but that's the nature of coaching.

I'm all for drafting a QB... Aaron could start free falling in 3-4 years. It isn't some automatic he'll play out his contract even though he says he wishes to do so and beyond. He doesn't know, nor do we, when his skills may erode.

Clements as OC? Who knows? He's been around a long time and you won't really know until he's actually done it. I think he's well qualified.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Teams only get 30 invites, right? You really think that Ted Thompson would blow any portion of them, even one, away on a bluff? The more I think about that, the more shame I feel for even considering it possible.

No, this is not bluff. This is the Packers doing due diligence, something we often fail to appreciate.

Never know when you're drafting the next Tom Brady or Russell Wilson (who I still think if a little overrated, but still).
