Green Bay --- Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews was fined $22,050 by the NFL for his blindside hit on Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson during a Ha Ha Clinton-Dix interception return, ESPN reported.

I don't understand this one bit. Plain as day watching in realtime, slow-motion, or frame by frame that matthews led with his shoulder and contacted Wilson square in the chest. Basically, being fined because Wilson was looking away from Matthews.

I agree 100%. Live, I thought it was pretty rough, but on replay it looked clean to me, just a tough football play. I don't get the fine at all, no contact with head, not from behind, in the chest one of the areas you're supposed to hit in...

Wilson is lucky CM3 just missed him.

He got fined for a blind side hit which means he cracks back to make a hit on a defender that isn't looking your way. This was put into place because of Hines Ward always cracking back on WRs, he even broke a jaw of a linebacker. Besides that it is still on a quarterback and they will always baby a qb. Now if this hit was on Rodgers most people on here would be screaming for a fine or suspension.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Unlike Wilson on the hit. I saw this fine coming. He hit the head of not only a QB, but a QB blindsided. A hit like that will be fined 100 out of 100 times.

By the way the rule is written this is a prime example of what the fine is for.
To me this is an awesome block but how the rule is written this should have been a fine. He actually launches himself to make the block.
The guy that got hit was actually knocked out of the game with a chest injury and was coughing up blood.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
