I don't understand why the suspension benefits a random team and not the affected team.
Being division rivals I would fine Suh and suspend him for his next game against Green Bay, if that never happens then forfeited.
The idea is that Suh tried to injure Rodgers, we get nothing and Dallas gets a Detroit team without a starter. That doesn't make any sense to me.

Ndamukong Suh has a chance of winning appeal of suspension

In other words, to win an appeal Suh wouldn’t have to defend all his prior personal fouls. He would just have to convince Cottrell that he wasn’t intentionally stepping on Rodgers. Or even if Suh can’t convince Cottrell that he did nothing wrong at all, Suh might convince Cottrell that what he did doesn’t warrant a suspension. When Cottrell overturned Reed’s suspension, he upheld a fine for Reed and said that Reed did deserve some punishment for his late hits. Cottrell just thought the punishment of a suspension was too severe. A fine of any more than $22,000 would actually hurt Suh financially more than a suspension, because players on wild card teams are only paid $22,000 for the first playoff game.

Ndamukong Suh of Detroit Lions wins appeal, will play in playoff game vs Dallas Cowboys

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh had his one-game suspension overturned by appeals officer Ted Cottrell on Tuesday, a day after the NFL suspended Suh for Sunday's playoff game between the Lions and Dallas Cowboys.

Instead, Cottrell ruled Suh will have to pay a $70,000 fine.

Makes the wild card games more interesting. I wouldn't mind Detroit upsetting Dallas, then going to Seattle and getting into a slugfest with the Seahawks while GB picks off the Carolina/Arizona winner.

Although I ultimately agree that Suh likely was intentional and there may be some smoke to the Heyward fire, I can't help but feel we/the Packers are bordering on sounding whiney. I get the Lions are ass holes, I get the Suh play was cheap...but this is also football. I may get lambasted and regret posting this, though.

True....the only thing that really bothers me is, Suh now knows that the NFL has no teeth. For all their yelling about protecting players, when it comes down to it, they buckle under.
So Suh can do whatever he wants, and there will be no serious consequences.
70 grand is pocket change to a creep like him.

As far as if it was a Packer (say CM3 for instance) who was the one stepping back with one foot or two feet isn't the real issue. it is his long history of poor behavior. It could happen to anyone. Everyone is doubtful of it when Suh does it.

Here is one example:

Former NFL safety Ed Reed and current Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh have something in common; each has had a suspension imposed by the league and overturned by hearing officer Ted Cottrell.

But Reed and Suh have one major difference. Reed thinks Suh should have been suspended multiple games for stepping on the leg of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“When you have stuff like this in the game, that shouldn’t be tolerated,” Reed said on the newest edition of Inside the NFL, which debuts tonight.

As other have said, his suspension doesn't help us in the playoffs. However If I was Dallas I'd be watching Romo and Murray with their known injuries. Son of a B might just accidentally step on Murray's broken hand.

beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.

wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?

beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh

Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
