Troy I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. The smiles that 3 little girls generate is amazing. Are you going to make it home in time?

wpr-sorry to hear about your mom's dementia. My mom (91) is at a lower level and hasn't required 24/7 support yet, but it's coming.

Hope you have a calm, peaceful Christmas.

Your mom raised a good son.

Lot of heartfelt feelings in the above posts. I have a dad who is very concerned that he is "losing it", mentally, and he is, to a degree. Thing is, the man was always brilliant, and even with his lost capacity he is still smarter than all of us.

What a gift it has been to have a dad like that. A little bit of it rubbed off on me, and for that I am eternally grateful to Wade's God, fate, etc.

What a gift you guys have had that I did not. My mom died when I was 6. Reflect upon the great gifts your mom gave you throughout your life when you contemplate that.

Merry Christmas to you all, I wish nothing but joy in your lives.

Wayne, my wife has had to YELL at doctors/ nurses more times then I can count because of incompetence.

I also had to do it when she had surgery.
You put trust in docs, and sometimes in today's world you have to keep constant watch to make sure they don't screw up.
When my Mom was dieing, I said to her doctor "it must be hard for you, having to deal with death every day" you know what he said to me? His words of comfort were "why? It's not MY mom that's dieing."
How's THAT for a bedside manor? Even if he felt that way, he could have kept that to himself.
Shortly after, I saw a death notice in the paper....yep, his mom died.
What goes around, comes around.

Lauriejean told me she saw a special on dementia on TV, and they said a lot of times music can bring them out of it for awhile. Like music that was important from years ago, like a favorite Christmas song or something.
Maybe that can help.
