Dom Capers stated, “You look at last night, you might question it a little bit (Packer’s run defense). But I’ve seen us have our moments where we’ve played good run defense.”

I realize it is a difficult concept for Dom to grasp but if the other team has 31 rushing plays you really really really need more than just a few "moments where we’ve played good run defense". Even half of the pays is probably not going to be enough.

I hate this irrational criticism of Capers. You do what you can with the resources available. With the personnel the Packers have, you simply can't be expected to line up and stop everything all the time.

Capers defense is all about compensation, and IMO, he does an excellent job of compensating for mediocrity at ILB, good but still not great Safetys, and a better D Line than last year, but still just adequate. Blitz packages to get pressure on the QB when a simple base D can't do it necessarily create vulnerability to the run. What are you gonna do? Play to stop the run, and let the QB stand back there and pick us apart? I don't think so.

There have been times where we went up against teams with star runners, etc. that Capers loaded up - successfully - to stop the run and gambled against the pass. Unfortunately, thanks to Ted Thompson, the Packers often need to gamble one way or the other. I say Capers most of the time does a good job of picking the right poison.

Bullshit article.

Wasn't the Defense who couldn't score in the redzone.

Wasn't The defense who gave up the ball twice.

I'm not blaming the offense either, just wasn't The Packers night.

Everyone knew playing in The Dome, that game was going to be a shootout, the big problem was The Packers big gun jammed and misfired.

With all the talk from House and Hayward, it's real obvious missing both Shields and Burnette turned out to be a larger problem than most thought.

Packers beat the Panthers by 21, Saints beat The Packers by 21, I guess that means The Saints will win by 42 tonight against the Panthers.

Let's hope D. Jones, Shields and Burnette are back for Chicago.

Then let's see what happens.

Funny thing is, we played like shit, and I really don't give a damn. We still have the same problems with this team that we've had for three years. We have a mediocre to bad defense because of a stubborness to upgrade some important positions and this constant rash of injuries decimating our team.

Still have it better than the Vikings or Bears. Talent wise, Detroit has been better than the Packers for several years, yet we keep winning the division. Should feel blessed and start looking at the 2010 season as an anomoly and not the norm.

Mike Pennel, Letroy Guion, Josh Boyd, an oft injured Jones, and a somewhat inspiring Daniels. And then at linebacker, holy crap do we suck at ILB- Hawk and Jones tandem was dreadful, Lattimore has potential, and Barrington may be a player someday. Our secondary is the one bright spot, imo, when healthy. I love our DB's all the way around. But our front seven is weak and is embarrassing when stacked up against the likes of the Seahawks, Broncos, '9ers, and any other top tier defense.

If we want our defense to be better we need more talent up front. Until then, I think it's unfair to blame the shortcomings on the coach.

I would be ok with letting Capers go during the offseason, he might not always have had the best personnel available, however he cant get a free pass regarding that, since its also up to him to point out the personnel shortcomings to the Ted and Mike. He has been here long enough to have had some influence on some of the decisions made both regarding the draft and FA.

Does anyone know a DC that doesn't allow his players to get hurt? Let's hire that coach.

Dom is responsible for Worthy blowing out his knee? Dom is responsible for Raji's injury? Dom is why Datone can't stay on the field?

This is the NFL and players get hurt. But think where we might be if those injuries hadn't occurred. Worthy had a decent rookie season before blowing that knee late. Raji has been decent holding the point. Datone was a #1 pick for a reason. Instead, we are left with essentially backups. Of the 6 DL on the 53 roster, there are 2 rookie UDFA. I'm all for diamonds in the rough, but that's asking for it.

I still believe in Capers. But he could use some luck keeping players healthy.

Nobody's getting fired.

Players have time to get healthy, 4 of the next 5 at Lambeau.

Enjoy the season, no use worrying about what you have no control over.

Everyone can say "see i told you so" after the regular season.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
