I'm obviously biased toward Montana, but if you could put all of Vilas County Wisconsin's lakes out here in the mountains of Montana, then this would be heaven.

"cept for the snow, cold, Mountain Lions, Grizzly Bears, wolves, rednecks, idiot Viking fans, and movie stars." Take all those away and we got it made.

BUT....that's what makes this place great.

So I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences of places in America that are nice places to live or work in.

As always it's never too early to plan, and I thought I'd like to ask what other people have experienced and plan a trip one day or to relocate to the States.

Canada also seems like a nice place in general, does this hold true?

Personally, I love Minnesota but hate its politics. And depending on how said politics are when I am in the financial position to move where I'd like, if they get worse, Missoula (I had an uncle live there for awhile, and visited him.. BEAUTIFUL country!) Montana would be a strong possibility, or Nashville, TN.

Otherwise, if I can deal with the Minnesota politics, I'd love to have a downtown Minneapolis condo and a home in Duluth.

Well, I was hoping for a mechanical engineer moreso.. but I will mention it just the same.. some of the prettiest and overall fine areas to live on the mainland would be just North of Charlotte, NC..

Charlotte is a fine city but I would commute in from the North... the Mountains up towards Boone and Banner Elk are breathtaking..

You are a couple hours from the coast, and right down the coast from DC, Philly, New York..

I am a northern boy to heart, but that area there in this country.. damn it is pretty, the folk are nice enough, you have all the outdoor activities you want in driving distance and the weather isn't to shabby most of the year...

zombieslayer and Formo...you are welcome out here anytime. If you ever get this way, let me know in advance and I'll get rid of the movie stars myself. Actually, most of those stars who live out here are pretty invisible except to those of us who know them or have have their kids in school..(like me).

Formo...where did your uncle live in Missoula? This city has changed a lot in the past few years, but it is still the "Garden City" of Montana.

I have lived in several different areas but...

Tomahawk, Wisconsin was beautiful. My family had a huge house on Lake Alice. I would come home from school and go fishing whenever I wanted. We saw all sorts of wild animals around our house, plenty of fox, bear, and other types of wildlife. Not too far away from Green Bay.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
