So I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences of places in America that are nice places to live or work in.

As always it's never too early to plan, and I thought I'd like to ask what other people have experienced and plan a trip one day or to relocate to the States.

Canada also seems like a nice place in general, does this hold true?

I have been all over. I have a favorite, and it's not that close. I like San Diego, California. You know it's going to be something special even before you land. You got a very nice town, probably the best zoo on earth, Coronado Island (except for the squids, they don't like it so much, trust me), Tijuana and the whole baja peninsuala, striking range of LA, but being just far enough away for my tastes, thank-you very much, Viejas casino out in the desert about 20-30 minutes, some of the best big-game fishing anywhere, all those beaches, friendly people, beautiful parks...many of the beaches have washed stones instead of sand, which is kind of weird, great food and bars...and on, and on ,and on... I will probably never see it again, as I am retired now, and my wife has a rather severe case of agoraphobia when not in very familiar surroundings, and it extends into her having panic attacks when I'm not home, which has gotten to the point where it isn't even worth it for me to travel. The fortunate part for me as that I don't really care that much. Call it a "been there, done that" sort of attitude. Looks to me like the third time is the charm, and me having to stay mostly here in central PA is a small price to pay for the great gift that is my wife.
(She got Franziskaner wheat for the holidays  )

i've been in almost every state in the U.S. - very hard to pick one place so i'll give you my top 3.

Colorado - specifically Rocky Mountain National Park. Goes without saying how beautiful of a place this is. and as "hokey" as it sounds, i never felt closer to God than i did during some early morning hikes.

Michigan - Mackinac Island. haven't been there in years but i remember it as being a magical place with no vehicles. the ferry ride over & back were amazing.

Alabama - Gulf Shores. if i could move there, i'd do it in a second. completely different world along the Gulf of Mexico. relaxed people, beautiful white sand beaches, & amazing seafood.

i have to say though that my absolute favorite state to be in is Wisconsin. my family took many trips all over WI. there are so many neat little towns to visit & some beautiful scenery. then again, i find beauty in a freshly painted milking barn on a nicely landscaped farm so take what i'm saying with a grain of salt. 😉

I live in Montreal Canada, very nice place also very touristic and historic. Montreal has everything you need except for a beach for a summer vacation or even a winter one. Toronto is also good but as my experience the people there are just too snobish. Buisness wise, Montreal and Toronto are pretty big, all tho the economy is down so it's not as it use to be. If you wanted to start a buisness in Canada, everyone would suggest calgary or vancouver due to there expansion and lower taxes then montreal and toronto but I personally haven't visited calgary or vancouver and wouldn't be able to tell you if it's a good place to live or if it's a fun place to vacation. Hope that helps you 🙂.

It would be impossible to recommend any specific area, without knowledge of what you are looking for.

I have been to every state with the exception of Louisiana, and Alaska. Myself I wouldn't want to move from WI, but if I had to and excluding MN which is close to the same as WI. My next selection would probably be Seattle, WA or Portland OR areas.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I've been all around the U.S. while working in 1986. I got to see alot of places. California was pretty, but the thought of the ground opening up and swallowing you at any time unnerved me. I was actually in a small earthquake the 4 days i was in LA. It was i believe a 3.9. Not big........except to ME that is!
Californy and the southern states are too hot for me.

For me the best place is of course the State of Wisconsin just because of the people, they are down to earth and its easy to get to know them.

I also loved Colorado, the scenery is beautiful along with the rocky mountains.

Everyone knows that I live in CA now, I love the weather and everywhere you want to go mountains an hour away, beach an hour away, you cant get any better then that. So many things to do anytime you want to do them. Its very expensive living here. But I have to say its a very beautiful state.

But my heart will always be in WI with my family/friends, and I hope someday soon I can move back home. I want to be able to help my Dad with my Mom and it just kills me to be so far away from them.

I totally understand the sentiments being posted, and understand that everyone's heart belongs to mostly from whence they came. Personally, I will never be able to replace the great gifts my family extended upon me in the great state of Wisconsin, and that is ultimately what I am... but what would this world be like if we were all a bunch of (my dad's word's... trust them better than mine) schwantz provincials?

Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
