One problem with this suspend now, ask questions later deal with these cases made public so quickly is this. All a woman has to do is call the cops and claim the guy hit her and he is going to jail. Period. They sort things out later. If found innocent or case is dropped, the association of guilt is already placed on the guy. This opens him up for MORE false accusations. I think the negative trend is apparent.

As I said, this goes for anyone, not just celebrities.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

And it isn't a suspension.. it is inactivating them from the team; suspensions in the NFL are without pay.

I agree, you don't deactivate a player based on a accusation or arrest.. but if the DA / courts see enough to charge the player; I think the NFL and or team have the right to not have that player represent them upon the field until the legal matter is resolved.

But another question in this regards.. what should be done to teams that cut a bubble type player upon an arrest?

If I made it sound that way, I wasn't clear. I am saying that in the NFL, since it's a private organization, the burden of proof isn't the same, and you don't have the same right of due process.

It isn't presumption of guilt, but if you got arrested, your story better hold water.

There may be things a player does that would not be criminal but might still be cause for dismissal by the team or the league because they portray the league in a negative way. Examples might be legal gambling done in Vegas perhaps or excessive partying and generally being a totally obnoxious a-hole without actually breaking the law or being charged with anything (The Riley Cooper racist comments come to mind)

What I thought you were saying is that if a guy is accused he's gone no matter what because it sheds a bad light on your team simply because of the accusation. Maybe that's what I misunderstood, that you wouldn't give him the chance to prove his story held water.

Bucs director of player development Isaiah Harris was let go today after getting arrested last night for a DUI. Not limited to players.

buckeyepackfan (20h) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
