For some reason, it's impossible for him to see the blatantly obvious subjectivity to his posts. The majority of the time, they are FAR from "objective" or "reality." But, it's obvious he's incapable of seeing that, so it is what it is. But if someone tries to tell me not to enjoy a historical come back win . . . well they can just kiss my [boxing] . I enjoyed the win because it had lots of drama, excellent plays, and a victory. Just what I look for in my entertainment. Sure, it could have been a better win, but a win is a win. No one is going to minimize that for me. In fact, no one is going to tell me how to enjoy Packers football in any way, shape, or form. I'm going to enjoy it as I see fit just as everyone else is going to.

Subjective? So, beating the Jets is reason to get all excited as a Packers fan? Yes or No? That is subjectivity? Subjectivity is spinning a win that any objective person would tell you should've been a whole lot easier into some kind of wonderful performance. It wasn't. It was an embarrassing performance by the Green Bay Packers especially on defense. Jordy and Aaron hit one big play which did happen so you can't discount it but minus that play Jordy finished with 129 yards with a stacked box vs. Lacy.

We caught a break from an official that had it gone against us and not for us this forum would still be complaining how we got screwed ala Seattle but because it went for us I've read every excuse in the book how that was the right call. Yes, surely you're the objective one, here, and me the subjective.

My presentation is what it is because I feel it's necessary to combat the blatant homerism that is presented and homerism and reality are not cousins nor friends of one another.

To do it 12 times like you say I do, which, again, is necessary because for every one of my posts there are 12 on the koolaid train headed down the opposite track...it is embarrassing to play like that vs the NYJ. That is reality for a team that supposedly has SB aspirations. Two weeks in...D is horrible, they were scared and discombobulated in Seattle and I can't even characterize what they were vs. the pitiful Jets. I'd go with unprepared just like they were in Seattle.

Just wait for Detroit...I'm sure the excuses are spinning in your mind already to excuse the 40 Detroit hangs on us and the 20 or so less we score on them but I'll be the negative one, again.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

My only issue with Ted is his not being willing to go for it when the time is right. Which for this team was before signing Rodgers and Matthews both to their contracts. We had all our best players under contract, and clearly had money.

Getting 3 starters out of a draft is a great draft. AT that pace it would take over 7 drafts to fill your starting lineup assuming you get a 3 starters each draft and never duplicate a position over that time. That none of them are lost to injury or FA after their rookie contracts end. The best practice in the draft is getting the best talent available. That best talent is often not in places that need to be improved, example is ILB, we haven't been able to improve the position in how many years. If we can't than we need to look outside the draft to do so at some point.

Because of the contracts that we now have, it is going to be extremely difficult to improve the team with out lightning striking in the draft and getting a bunch of young kids that are able to come in immediately and be impact starters.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I don't have the time I would like to comment at length, so I'll just throw a few short thoughts out.

1. Either Ted isn't particularly good at assessing OL talent, or the people he hires under him aren't. Yes, that's me 🐴 again, but I still feel that he's had one home run (Sitton) and a bunch of depth guys some of whom end up getting lots of starts because they're the best of the depth guys, not because they should be starters. I want a dominant OL, and he hasn't put one together despite the efforts of a decade.

2. I want a dominant team. This is a good team, not a dominant team. I think part of the reason is personnel. Therefore I hold Ted Thompson's "approach" to be insufficient.

3. I still don't understand why people rag on uffda so much. Sure, he is less than diplomatic at times and perhaps enjoys being blunt with respect to other individual posters or with respect to Ted Thompson a bit much. But I find he does make important points as he does so. Maybe that's because I agree with him a lot, but I don't think it's just that either. I invariably find his posts worth reading.

Of course, I'm an asshole, too, so maybe that's part of all of the above.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It's not like you're going to change how people feel about it anyway.

I'm not really sure why you feel the need to battle how people enjoy the game. Who cares if a sports fan is a bit of a homer? Everyone enjoys sports and entertainment in general in different ways and on different levels. Why can't a sports fan be a little bit of a "homer?" Why would a fan want to react in any way that minimizes the entertainment value of their favorite team? Everyone can enjoy it as they see fit. Most of the posters here are well aware of the weaknesses of this team. They have been stated many times and have been for years. But there's nothing I can personally do about it so I'm not going to sit around and bitch constantly. I enjoy watching Packers football, even if they aren't the best team in the league. I enjoy watching big plays, seeing Lambeau field packed, Aaron Rodgers making throws that few can make, and most importantly, wins. Things could always be better, as basically everything in life could. But that doesn't mean that the actual reality isn't enjoyable. To each their own. You think beating the Jets was "embarrassing." I think it was a nice win and pretty entertaining, and certainly much better than the alternative. I'm glad you feel like you are a righteous solder that is destined to "combat blatant homerism." But it just seems a silly to me. To each their own.

If the Packers get embarrassed in Detroit, well, it is what it is. I'm certainly not going to cry about it. The more embarrassments that occur just make actually winning that much more enjoyable. I personally think the Packers can beat Detroit, as they have done many times in the past several years. They just need to play like they are capable of playing.

I have picked on him before but my pain the rear BIL seemingly can only find enjoyment out of his sorry @ssed bares by trying to pick on the Packers. I guess that is his way of being a homer. I slap him around a little and he slinks back under his rock for a while and all is good.

As I said, the vast majority of the posters on this particular forum are intimately familiar with the weakness of this team. They have been stated and discussed ad nauseam for years. For the most part, many of the weaknesses have remained constant throughout the years. I've stated several times that I don't think that Packers will win the Super Bowl this season. So where does that leave me? Am I to get no joy from the season since the Packers aren't going to be a "dominant" team or the best in the league? Why should I even watch the games if even a dramatic victory is "utterly embarrassing" for me?

It's one thing to push for certain moves in the off season. But the reality is that this current Packers team is what it is this season. I think it's likely to improve as the team continues to gel and players gain more experience. But it could also easily get even worse depending on the injury situation. Either way, things are not likely to substantially change until the off season, at best, and even then the change will likely be incremental.

The Packers may not be the best in the league or a truly dominate team. It would be great if there were, but they are not. Just like ones parents or kids may not be the best in the world, they still have a lot of value and provide many wonderful moments in life. The Packers are a good team that are exciting or dramatic to watch, if nothing else. If they consistently play to the level they are capable of, they are absolutely a top five team. But given a lack of talent at a few positions, if they don't play to the level they are capable of, they will probably just be a top 10 team. it could be worse, but it could also be better. Glass half empty or half full, I suppose.

The most dominant team in the NFL last year might be 1-2 after this weekend. Seattle. Sitting at 1-1 and playing against a team that has been gearing up for this since being embarrassed in Super Bowl. It's quite possible.

Another 'dominant' team just got embarrassed at home by what I believe will end up being a pathetic Bears team.

Pittsburgh dominated for a couple years and may now be the worst team in the AFC North. Being dominant doesn't last. Appreciate what we have in a consistent winner.

Unlike College Football, there are no style points in the NFL. Just win, baby. Nobody can dominate for long. Too much talent everywhere. And the salary cap levels the field.

But it is very possible to be objective yet not get the backlash you generate. And it has nothing to do with the audience being a homer or not.

This thread was a pretty objective thread up until the point the gasoline was poured upon it...
