I don't disagree with anything you are saying. I think he's a good coach, but not a great coach. I would like a bit more of a hard-ass. But the Packers offense will be OK. My biggest problem with him is keeping the likes of Dom Capers around. That's borderline inexcusable, imo.

For many organizations, getting info from the GM, HC, or any coordinator needs to, at best, be taken with a HUGE grain of salt. You don't want to reveal your hand. You don't want to throw your own player or coach under the bus. You can't reveal that you already traded Kevin Love to the Cavs before you're allowed to trade him. Mike McCarthy doesn't have anything to do with the releasing of players, though...that is TT's arena.
