Well, hopefully he won't be needed at all, but I think we all know that's unlikely.

Granted, the Rams have an above average D-Line, and granted, our run blocking was good, and maybe I'm hoping for too much, but I'd really like to see what the greatest QB in the NFL could do if he had consistent time to throw it downfield.

Yes, the pocket may not be great, but would you rather see a perfect pocket on a 3 and out?

Finding complaints about the #1 offense in this game is like a Seahawk fan whining about how crappy their punting was in the SuperBowl game.

My takeaways:
-Hayward looks good
-starting OL looked great
-the TE competition is lame. No standouts.
-janis fast
-Flynn's noodle arm is a real problem
-Peppers still has some gas in the tank
-Sherrod was awful
- HHCD did not look good, whiffed tackles and iffy coverage on deep routes.
- too many wide open, uncontested Ram WRs
- Eddie Lacy is Eddie Lacy

I didn't see th whole game but I heard it reported that HHCD actually looked good and Hyde didn't.

The O-Line looked good but I also read that Rodgers averaged less than 2.4 secs getting rid of the ball. That's smart play calling and his immense talent, but as Tex opointed out, it's not Brady-Like time to throw.

My impression of the defense was that it was awesome against the run, and coverage was way better than last year. I thought Bradford made some great throws and there isn't much to be done about that. I would like to see more pass rush but at least if teams are going to score, I think they are going to have to work for it.

One thing I don't see getting mentioned much is Brad Jones has been making a lot of plays so far. Would be a huge boost if he plays like this in reg season.

I thought Flynn looked good. Yeah he doesn't have a canon, but "noodle arm" I think is selling him short

The first string offense and run defense was the shining part of the team in week 2. Rodgers was on top of his game and had fantastic pocket awareness. Sure, he doesn't have "Tom Brady-pocket time" but he also doesn't need it. Rodgers likes to move around in the pocket and has the mobility to do so. He isn't running for his life every single play. I would prefer not to discredit the starting offensive line so far with the way they have played the last two weeks. Let's talk about the way they have been run-blocking as well...just solid all around play from the 5.

Pass defense and 2nd string offensive line was the bad part of week 2. Somehow, Rams receivers were still running wide open. A dig route comes to mind and I don't know if it was Tramon's fault or if he was expecting help over the top from a safety. Either way, that will come down to communication once again. This bothers me because for the most part, the defensive line was putting some pretty good pressure on Bradford when the starters were out.
Sherrod had a bad start but picked up his game. We shouldn't really get worked up over some bad plays in one preseason game. He was still going against decent competition in the 2nd quarter and he also played well against Tennessee. I am sure there is still rust to knock off. Dorsey had two poor plays in a row. A dropped pass near the endzone (hit him right in the hands) and a missed block on a screen the play after.

Tight end is going to be a story until the end of week 4 preseason or maybe even into the season when they decide to go with a TE-by-committee until one of them actually rises above the rest. My money is still on Richard Rodgers to come through as he has shown he can move around in any position. He was more of an H-back on Saturday afternoon. Quarless' stats are padded from his big catch in which Rodgers created more time (because he doesn't have Tom Brady time).

Ted Thompson better make some room for Janis and Pennel on the 53. No friggin' way these two guys will survive on the practice squad. Let's not forget, Janis is doing some great things with only one week of physical play under his belt. I have a feeling he is going to shine more and more as the preseason goes on. Pennel has come from no where since camp started and the defensive line can surely use that presence and rotation.

Knock out some of the stupid penalties that they had and this team is going to do some really good things this year.

beast (14h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (14h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
