Unless he gets injured, I have him as a lock for this team.

Davante Adams just shook his head over that Janis play and had this to say...

From JSOnline.com:

This is the guy everyone in Green Bay calls "V12," as in the V12 engine you'd find inside a Lamborghini.

"They don't ever know," Adams said. "You see in practice, as soon as he got here, any time he catches that little shallow, that little drag route, he catches it and people take bad angles because they don't know how that V12 is going to kick in. That dude is fast."

SPEED kills. Jordy made some comments that makes you think that he doesn't think Janis is anywhere near ready from a running routes standpoint.

Patience. Janis has the goods. Finally, a speed burner in this offense. So deadly.

Looks like he can field punts. Not to jinx him, but that makes him a lock.

Jordy
Cobb
Adams
Janis
Dorsey
Boykin (squeaks by thanks the injury to Abbrederis.)

Sucks that Charles Johnson got away this year, but it sounds like he was damaged goods. I'll bet Kevin Dorsey beats out Boykin next year.

I will take that bet. I think the top receivers next season will be Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Jarrett Boykin. I'm not sure who will get significant playing time behind them, but I think they will be the top 3 because I don't see them resigning James Jones.

They might end up keeping an extra TE and only 5 WRs. We gotta make room for 3 QBs too.

Janis TD catch

Sorry, don't know how to directly link a youtube video into the post. Anyway, adding because I didn't get to see the game last night. Reminds me of Jordy's redemption catch from his drop in the SB.

Who had the cut block? Can anyone tell? ... It was RB Hill. He had a bounce-back week.

We know Cobb and Nelson are making it without question, and so is Adams as a 2nd round pick. That eats up the first 3 slots. Only two remain.

Janis is a guy who has measurables that are better than nearly everyone at the WR position in the entire NFL. If he played well, and he has, how are you going to cut that unique specimen? You aren't. That would eat up 4 spots leaving only one more if we were to keep 5.

That leaves Abbrederis vs. Boykin. A 5th rounder, who by all rights, could've gone much higher than he did vs. a guy who came to us via tryout as a UDFA...we didn't even sign Boykin as a UDFA, initially, he only got a tryout to be signed. The hardest road of all. Let's say Abbrederis lit it up like Janis has, which was a real possibility. Do you think it's so unlikely a 5th round hot shot rookie wouldn't be kept over Boykin who has very poor speed? I don't. Yes, Boykin proved to be a solid NFL WR, but he was not a precious draft choice. We all know how those are valued in Green Bay.

To me, it was no stretch at all to say it was well within the realm of possibility that Boykin may not have been Top 5. MM's quote on Boykin was very flattering toward Jarrett, but that was prior to seeing all the guys who would be in competition against him. If forced to choose, how could you easily just say I'd take Boykin over Janis? That is where it likely, in my view, would've come to had Abbrederis not gotten hurt if we were only going to keep 5.

Boykin is a fine WR...I don't dislike him or his game at all. He has excellent hands and knows how to play the position. He's just not flashy and offers little in the way of speed. Abbrederis, Janis, Boykin... Who would you rather hold onto?

I look at Janis as being similar to Jordy, only completely raw. He played at a small school.

Jordy
Cobb
Adams
Janis
Dorsey
Boykin (squeaks by thanks the injury to Abbrederis.)

Can Janis field a punt cleanly?

As much as some of you seem to hate Boykin... he's not getting cut this year... it's been pretty much that simple from the start... you can blah blah blah about this guy or blah blah blah about that guy... simple fact unless Boykins gets injured and does something horrible stupid or evil... he's been basically a lock to make the team.

He's just the new obsession for people to stupidly hate on... I guess they get tired of waiting for Hawk and Bush to get cut and have moved on to Boykin...
