Obviously we are not going for greatness because we aren't great. Everyone knows that it easy to achieve greatness, you just have to try and it will happen. The only reason teams are not great is because they don't try to be great, they are content to be good. It has nothing to do with the fact that there are 31 other teams who are also trying to be great and they are working against you. It has nothing to do with having a huge string of bad luck in the injury department. Its simply because Ted Thompson is not trying to be great. Trying is the same as being and if you aren't being then you must not be trying.

A lot of people will say that the Lombardi era Packers were not the most talented group of players on the field but they had the drive to win. Well Lombardi was the GM of that team and so it was Lombardi the GM that failed to put the most talented players on the field. He was also the coach and it was Lombardi the coach that got the most out of his men.

Maybe the problem doesn't lie so much with Thompson as it does with McCarthy.

Nerd, your post is the exact issue I have... Wolf needed to do it because we'd been so bad... but Ted Thompson does NOT need to because we've been so "good"? I'd rather suck and try to be dominant than to just work to maintain above average with an all time great at QB. BTW, Wolf's teams were in back to back SB's, while TT's went one and done after theirs. If not for the infamous Rice non fumble and the incredible play that launced T.O. we likely would've been back for a 3rd straight SB appearance. That team was a dominator. None of TT's have been. 15-1 regular season was incredible but it was all for naught getting blown out at home in our first playoff game. Not sure how much the Philbin situation had on that one.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel satisfied when the Packers lose their last game of the season but that's just me.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
