I know it's my confirmation bias talking, but that's not very good. If you're draft and develop and that's your record based on the draft please tell me how/why our GM got an extension?

Datone is on his way to joining the failures. Our D will likely continue to be below average, at best, but there's no accountability. It's the exact opposite...a raise and an extension. Makes sense. [puke]

How and why it isn't seen what is and has been happening is just mind boggling.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I hate taking calculated risks in the first round. it is just foolish. That is what the 6th and 7th rounds are for.

I like him because he is a safety and a pretty darn good one by most accounts and we certainly needed a safety but that is only part of why I liked the pick. I also like that he was drafted to play safety and even if he doesn't start this season or next I believe he will play safety. I hate the picks that you feel like you have to change the guys position. In the first round, I don't care if it is #29 you should be able to get a guy who you know where he is going to fit. This seems to be the Packers biggest problem They draft great athletes and try to change them in some way shape or form. It's the same way with injuries. Taking a chance on a guy who drops 15 or more spots because he he has some injuries is not quite so bad but taking guys with injury issues at about the spot where they should be is a bit questionable.

Casey Hayward was statistically one of the best corners in football his rookie year (See football outsiders). If he can play 85% of what he was as a rookie he will be an elite nickleback if he regains top form he would be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

Hayward is a really talented football player. Glad he is healthy and ready to go this season.

I don't care how good Hayward was his rookie year.

As he stands now. He has only been healthy for half of his played contract.

So he has only contributed to this team for 16/32 games.

That's not good enough.

It looks like Hyde and Tramon Williams have been starting in the slot in dime packages in practice recently. I do remember at least one or two of Hayward's interceptions being thrown directly to him. I understand he was in position and made the catches, but I can't help but think a few of those picks were as much horrible plays by the quarterback as they were good plays by Hayward. Only one or two of his interceptions, though.

Also, the interceptions aren't even half of what made Haywards rookie season great. The footballoutsiders thing that he mentioned takes into account things like defensive passes, tackling guys short of a 1st on 3rd and 4th down, and stuff like that. He defended 12 passes that year and was thrown at 74 times but only allowed like 44% of the passes to be completed. LOL don't talk to me about a possibly fluke INT meaning his season wasn't that good. He may never repeat that success but lets not try and downplay how good he was just because he had an injury ruined season.

This was an interesting bit from week 13 that year.

Hayward is a stunner, right there. Green Bay's rookie nickelback has five picks, but he also has six PDs on third down plus one on fourth, eight tackles that stopped a third-down reception short of the sticks, and a pass deflection that led to an interception by Eric Walden.
