Let's run some numbers if you don't mind.
Packer D 2011 - 19th in points allowed. 27th in passing TDs allowed. 14th in rushing yardage allowed but 6th in rushing TDs allowed.
Packer D 2010 - 2nd in points allowed. 4th in passing TDs allowed. 18th in rushing yardage allowed and 3rd in rushing TDs allowed.
Just by looking at those stats, the obvious difference is not defending the rush. It's passing TDs. How the **** did we go from 4th to 27th?
2010, we sacked the opposing QB 47 times. That's right under 3 times a game. All-Pro CM3 led the team with 13.5 sacks. Now, this is very important. Cullen Jenkins had 7 and BJ Raji had 6.5 sacks from the DL.
2010, we sacked the opposing QB 29 times. CM3 only had 6 sacks, leading the team. Bishop had 5. BJ Raji only had 3 and Cullen Jenkins was on another team.
Numbers don't lie. D wins championships, and we were giving opposing QBs too much time. It may really be that simple.
