I'm going to agree with the ones here that understand football.

There are practice players and there are gamers.

Boykin has proved he can get the job done in game situations.

Adams may very well overtake Boykin at some point this season, or next, but isn't that what's expected of him?

He(Adams), has to prove himself in real game situations.

That starts Saturday night.

Amazes me how some on here would rather see someone fail, just so they can say "I told you so"

Hell I hope Adams ends up pushing Cobb for playing time, that would mean The Packers would once again have one hell of a WR lineup.

Not that they are bad now, just a little inexperienced.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

There is so much more than speed and quick cuts to a WR.

First he has to be able to read the defense. Many if not most college kids struggle with it when they get to the NFL.
Then they have to be able to run the correct route and make the proper adjustments in route. (Make the back shoulder catch, make the move off a double pump by the QB, break to the outside if the defender over plays to the inside, settle in the seam if the defense is in a zone.)
They have to be strong enough to fight through the defender's hand grabs, bumps and pulling on the jersey. So many kids need a year or two to build up their upper body strength.
Next they have to be able to do this at NFL game speed. (Many fail to do this in their first couple of years.)
They have to be on the same page with the QB when it comes to audibles whether spoken or just a look and a nod by the QB.
Finally but not least is catching the darn ball.

I hope Adams is good enough to be the #3 receiver. Good for him. Good for GB and good for the fans. If not, if he needs time to develop, no worries as Boykin has already demonstrated that he has made the transition to a solid NFL WR.

2 in the bush isn't always worth 1 in the hand. We've seen with Davon House that the practice champ doesn't always translate to the champ under the lights. We've seen what Boykin can do in real NFL action - we have no clue with Janis, Abby, Dorsey, etc.

Nearly 50 catches in 12 games making 570k this year with ST experience and has been noted, he achieved those stats with a grab bag of QBs throwing at him. Unless he did not catch a single ball in practice, I can't see how Boykin would not have made the team.

I've been predicting this for some time now.

If Abby hadn't gotten injured, Boykin might not even make the team, behind Adams, Abby and Dorsey. As it is, he's got a shot. Janis could still come on strong, but he's missed quite a bit already.

Boykin is a lock even if he gets dinged up and doesn't play a single snap of preseason. He hardly played last preseason either because he got pulled any time the starters came out. If he was a lock last year with 0 seasons actually playing he's a lock now after the season he just had.

No. Mike McCarthy and Rodgers were not taking this offense into the season with only 2 veteran receivers and an accumulation of rookies/ PS guys. Not going to happen. Barring injury, Boykin is a lock, and always was.

It's one thing to be excited about the young receivers on this team; I won't blame anyone for that.

But it's another thing to severely underrate a player already on your roster. Boykin is a really good player!

In case anybody has forgotten that fact, here are a few reminders: 1...  2...  3...

Steve...your constructive (or destructive) criticism is always welcome. I understand your point, however, it's amusing TO ME. It's a good natured shot at something I found hysterical. I didn't call anyone out for it, and some wouldn't have even known what I was doing had you not pointed it out. You're tuned in enough to get it.

Boykin is a decent WR. I would invite stoicfire to read the piece where it offers a contradictory view of the camp Boykin has had up to this point.

Rodgers recently said he prefers a WR who knows what he's doing to one with incredible atheleticism. The mental errors don't work for 12 and those are sure to come from the young guns. That gives Jarrett a very good chance of being back this year even though he may not be as good as some of the others "behind" him. It's a good problem to have.

Davante Adams should be better than Boykin and beat him out with relative ease. It's just a process for him. Happy to hear it sounds like the light is coming on for Davante.

Boykin as a 4 and ... Janis, Dorsey, White or Harper as a 5th. Man, how crowded with Abby in there. He was one rookie who was really football smart and the type I think would've made Aaron comfortable very quickly. I do honestly believe, assuming Davante supplants Boykin as a 3 that Abby could've jumped Boykin, also. That would move Jarrett to 5th and in competition with a guy with better measurables than any almost WR in the entire NFL, in Janis. Throw in Dorsey who has much better speed and Harper who has size and strength and I'm not positive Jarrett is a total lock. Likely, sure... total lock... I wouldn't say.

Yeah man WR is a freaking log jam. Every practice another guy is making plays, or another guy is dropping balls and being inconsistent. The one guy who is staying awesome the whole way through is the guy that just got the pay raise :)

Pre-season games will sort all of this out and be really freaking fun to watch.
