Argentina is in great shape. Win the group and then get France or Honduras in the 2nd Stage. Advance and probably get Belgium. Good match but you say they are young maybe that will be their weakness.

And now you can strike Germany out of the semi final competitors, we just lost our best player in a freaking friendly against Armenia. :-& :-& I don't know the exact injury yet, but it looked horrible 😢 Without Marco Reus the group stage is the limit.

I was tempted to put Belgium in the finals but I really don't know very much about them

What do you think the expected lineup will be without Reus, something like:

Neuer

Lahm--Mertesacker--Humels--Durm/Boateng

Khedira--Schweinsteiger

Muller--Ozil--Gotze

Klose/Podolski

Or am I missing other injuries at the moment?

I still see you guys winning the group and as you've already mentioned the draw will likely be fantastic for the winner of the group of death (least they deserve, right?).

The only other team I could see winning the group is Portugal and Ronaldo's injury situation could play a huge factor there. I could also see Portugal crashing out of the group stages to either Ghana or the US. I don't see that for Germany.

That said, we just heard of the next "brilliant move" by Jogi Löw. With Marco Reus now officially out for the WC, he replaced him with Mustafi, who is now the 6th central defender on the team. 🤦 🤦 What an idiot. And "my man" Kevin Volland, who would be the only injury free real forward on the team is still sitting at home. 😳

Regarding the starting lineup, Lahm won't be the right defender, he's now playing at 6. I guess it'll be something as below, but with Jogi coaching you never know. 🤥

Neuer/Weidenfeller

Boateng -- Mertesacker -- Hummels -- Durm/Höwedes

Lahm -- Khedira/Schweinsteiger

Müller -- Özil/Götze -- Podolski

Schürrle

Müller can also Schürrle's position, I expect a ton of rotation in the front 4 positions. Klose is 35 and not at 100%, with the given temperatures I think he will not start a single game. He'll get some playing time, though.

I can't believe I'm so bored I just read an entire thread about soccer.

disappointing match. USA had it won and pissed it away with a terrible prevent defense. Loved it when they were stalling be at least pretended to be attacking a few minutes earlier.

I know nothing about soccer, except that it is two 45 minute halves. So I thought anyhow. I was stoked when I seen the 90' mark and thought woohoo we won!!!! And then that sommbitch went to 90' +1 ... WTF is with that?

One of the drawbacks with growing up in the northwoods of Wisconsin.. you don't get the same exposure to a variety of things in life like one might in a more densely populated area. Our area just didn't have the availability of soccer and hockey.. so I never was drawn to it. I have tried to watch and adopt the sport, in college I even had a roommate that was on the UWGB soccer team. Just never could get into it. Even in this format, it just doesn't have an impact.

Many of my friends from around the country are all stoked about the WC.. and I sit here more interested in the Winst.... err.. Sprint cup.

I wish Wisconsin had an NHL team. Probably like Minnesota wishes it had an NFL team.

Anyhow, the World Cup fever is pretty cool to see. I checked the twitter feed and everyone was all USA!! It was great to see us united as such.

wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”

Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : Well, to ONE person on Tweeter
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : According to Tweeter
