If he ran that 4.87 at 270 lbs, I'd say that's some pretty good speed. And at that weight, I would think he'd be able to block halfway decently.

From that article, not only is R. Rodgers 40 very poor, but he had the worst 10 yard split. (Runs the slowest 10 yard dash which is an athletic indicator of explosiveness) ....Lyerla ran the fastest 10 yard split showing explosion.

On the bright side, Rodgers YAC is the highest if memory serves. He's strong and can break tackles.

I hope he's an excellent TE just like any Packers fan would. I just have my doubts he'll be anything more than an average TE given his very limited athleticism. Finley brought something that Rodgers won't be able to bring to the table leaving a net loss for our offense which is why I'm so disappointed in this selection. You don't spend a 3rd rounder to get less than you previously had at a position and I feel that is what they did out of panic watching the TE's they really wanted gone off the board.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I bet he catches far more balls than Finley did in his career in GB. Will he affect defenses the same way? Only time will tell.

I do find it interesting that as dynamically as people say Finley affects opposing defenses, his 40 time coming into the draft was considered akin to walking in mud, compared with the others in his class. And, yes, Rodgers' was worse.

We will see how much really matters...

Adding Lyerla could turn out to be a remarkable steal if he is able to keep his focus and progress in this system. Had he not gotten himself into trouble, he could have been the top TE in the draft, or close to.

Both players added to this Packers team could really change the way defenses play us. With Lacy, Starks and Harris, along with a deeper, more talented WR group, and what I suspect will be an improved OL, defenses will be forced to play us far more honestly.

It hasn't been mentioned before but I wonder how the two (Lyerla and Rogers) competing in camp may speed up their development and give us the best of both.

It HAS been mentioned elsewhere how the theme with the pass catchers drafted/signed this year was HANDS and route running. Especially with Lacy/Starks in the backfield, I see a lot of single coverage on guys who don't need a lot of separation to be open and make catches.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
