I'm mixed on this.

I've seen 0-16 shirts that are MADE from Lions fans. But not in disgrace of their team, but in opposition of their teams' ownership.

Face it, the Fords may be able to run an auto company alright. But an NFL football team? Not so much. Someone in Detroit.. Maybe even the entire CITY, needs to do something about this. Otherwise, those poor Lions fans will suffer even more.

I know one guy. ONE. Personally that's a Lions fan. We get along great. And to say he's a classy guy is an understatement. I feel sorry for him for having to deal with the Fords' inability to put a winning product on the field.

I guess if it were Viking fans chanting the same thing, I would be embarassed myself.

From what I'm reading from reports of people that "were there" the chant was started by Lions fans they went to Green Bay to watch their team go 0-16. It's all hearsay right now but was anyone at the game that can confirm or deny this? Regardless is was still classless...

How many times have we heard the chant "The Bears still suck" at Lambeau? More times then i can count. Why didn't anyone ever get upset at that? It's a rival team.

Isn't that their slogan?

The point about the Bears and the Vikings and our chants at them is a valid one, but for me the biggest difference is the total "beat-down" that team, and more importantly, their fans have endured. I recall sharing on this forum my visit over to a Lions board on the week preceding our first game against them, with an intention to join the site and talk a little good-natured "smack", along the lines that Pack93z and myself do year-round over at P.P.O.

The difference between P.P.O. and the Lions site is night and day. No Packer smack amongst them, no wishful thinking, just a beaten down fanbase resigned to the fact that the team they love is getting royally screwed over by ownership/management. I truly felt sorry for them.

I also tried to join a Bears website, after having been warned that they are a bunch of arrogant prick assholes. I did a lengthy introduction, told them I was also a member of P.P.O., and wanted to engage in some discussion, bringing some Packer fan perspective to their board. I did the same thing when I initially joined P.P.O., and was warmly welcomed.

The jerks on that Bears site laid into me with a whole series of childish nonsense. I immediately removed the URL from my "favorites" and have not been back. They are sort of easy to hate on, and I saw no evidence of them feeling "downtrodden", so I consider them "fair game".

Perhaps my "class" is selective, perhaps nuanced to a degree that is hard to discern. My best analogy is that if a pit bull comes at me, I will do my best to kill that dog. If a poodle shits on a rug, I reckon I will clean it up, scold the dog, but I'm not gonna kick it or anything.

I believe that if the Lions were a team that was competitive, their fans would be like the Bears and Vikings fans. It's hard to talk "smack" when you team has done nothing for so many years.
Now........if i had been there, i would not have joined in with the chant.
I hold myself to a higher standard. But i wouldn't have blasted those that did it. There were enough Lions fans there that were "embracing" the 0-16 record.

I suppose this is why economists are projecting that the auto industry will need between $75 billion and $100 billion of taxpayers' money over the next several years just to stave off bankruptcy. There's no guarantee that money will even return them to profitability.

The Big Three are some of the worst run major industries in the United States. They gambled big on SUVs and other vehicles of self-indulgence (Ford in particular) at the same time other auto companies throughout the world were staking their fortunes on leaner, meaner vehicles, and it's going to take them years to recover from this strategic mistake.

That the Ford family is just as bad at managing a professional football team as they are in producing quality vehicles and forecasting consumer trends is no surprise to me.

I didn't see the game, but is this simply about people chanting 0-16? Nothing else? You're reaching if you find that offensive. "Bears still suck" I can see as offensive (even if it's true). If you want to hear classless chants, go to any NY sporting event.

Thats kind of how i feel. You pay money to see the game, and if you want to chant go ahead. As long as it's not vulgar, i myself have no problem with it.
Like i said before...........i bet the Lions fans would be more "vocal" if they had a team that they felt would GIVE them something to "chant" about (i mean something POSITIVE)
