This is lightly off-topic, but then again maybe not. In 2003, I took a very good friend to Lambeau to watch the Packers play the Redskins. He is a lifelong Redskin fan and season ticket holder. I have attended many skins games with him over the years, on his nickel, so it was long overdue that I return the favor.

Our tickets were almost exactly on the 50 yard line, behind the GB bench, about 10 rows up. I had on my Packer leather coat, and my buddy had on his Redskin one. The day was truly magical. I had purchased a Brett Favre Jersey in the brand new pro shop, leaving my seat pre-game. I come back to my seat to discover that my friend has struck up a conversation between Ahman Green and himself. As I got to my seat, my buddy looked and asked what I got. I showed it to him, and Ahman Green saw it as well. He summoned Brett over, Brett said hey guys...and Ahman Green asked Brett to sign it for me, which he did.

The whole thing started when two regular season ticket holders struck up a "common thread" interest conversation with them, him, and Ahman. He had just been to DC to visit some basketball buddies, and so forth and so on. The absolute friendliness of everyone around my friend wearing his "enemy" coat was astounding to him, and this is compared to RFK/Landover fans, who, as a collective group, also possess "class". We kicked the living crap out of the skins that day, but my friend didn't care. He will tell anyone that will listen the extended version of that weekend, including the kindnesses extended by everyone he met, in and out of the confines of Lambeau and Green Bay.

My point of sharing this with you is that I had predicted much of it. On the plane ride and car ride (We went and stayed in Madison, my home town) I told him stories of the people and traditions of my "roots". He saw it firsthand in many profound ways that weekend. I would like to think that I could take another friend there and impress him just as much. I know there are all kinds of people everywhere, including Lambeau, but the fact that I feel bad about that chant tells me that I could...after all, I am from Wisconsin.

Wow, that is amazing.

I obviously can't say a whole lot about the fans, just that from what I've seen they're better than Eagles and Raiders fans.

I think this chanting wasn't even that bad, I didn't like it, but it's nothing out of the ordinary if you come to an NFL stadium. Everyone is so used to having these great fans that something like this really offends them, hence the fact that all of you are condemming all of the fans there....

Foster.. I happen to completely agree.. it lacked the type of candor I would rather see from our fan base.. chant Go Pack Go.. or whatever in support of our team, but that chant lacked taste and sportsmanship.

Not a fan of it, whatsoever..

I will not call you corn-pone. I'd rather call you porn-cone.

I have no problems with the chants, what's wrong with chanting the opponent's record. I wouldn't mind if we lost and Detroit fans started chanting 5-11. They earned their record: 0-16.

I was at a Packer/Bears game at Lambeau a few years ago, and we lost.
Bears fans gave us crap in the stadium and all the way to my car. NONE of it was obcene though, so i took it as....well....they DID beat us.
As long as it doesn't get nasty, it doesn't really bother me.
Of course the Lions can take that chant and use it for locker room fodder next year, so it may come back to bite us in the butt.
I always say, if you give it, you should be willing to take it.

How many times have we heard the chant "The Bears still suck" at Lambeau? More times then i can count. Why didn't anyone ever get upset at that? It's a rival team.

I don't believe in taunting in any way. I don't care what your opinion or explanation is for the chant. It was despicable.

Seriously, if this was the Vikings or Bears, would any of you feel the same way? I would love to shove that in the Vikings or Bears faces if they went 0-16...I have no problem with it, really. Although, I do kind of feel sorry for them.

Nope...beating them is taunt enough. I don't see need to be a poor winner.

Oh, it had plenty of candor -- it just lacked class and grace.

I like to watch all kinds of clips on NFL.com and stumbled across this one. I think the last part really shows the 'kicking while they're down' segment.
