I was at a family gathering last night and there was much talk about the Packers and how they can still get in the playoffs. I sat there pondering my thoughts on the issue. I don't think this team is very good at all...even if ARod makes a comeback, so I see a one-and-done scenario, but I can't say that I don't WANT them to make the playoffs.

Hmmmm.....

I figured it out after a little while. While I still see them as one-and-done, I do want to see the Packers in the playoffs...out of spite. With all the shit that has happened to this team, not Chicago, not Minnesota, not even Detroit would make it. You M'er F'ers had your chance with half the Packers out on injury to take the Division, and you shit yourselves. Sucks to be you!

If the players all suddenly get healthy, Rodgers, Lacy, OL, Cobb, Matthews, Neal, defense... I could see them making some noise in the playoffs... but honestly I don't see that happening. I'm thinking Rodgers and Cobb are done for the season, maybe Matthews too.

At this point I would be happy with knocking the Bears out of the playoffs race. NOT losing to the 49ers and 49ers and Seahawks not winning the Super Bowl... also would perfer if the Saints didn't win it either. Let some other team like say the Panthers, Broncos, Bengals or Chiefs

You know I want to believe in this team right now. I want to eat crow for days because of a post season run by this team. I'll love this team till the day I die, but I just don't see it.

At this point I feel I only have two options: win, take the moral victory over the Bears and watch this team get annihilated in the divisional round or watch this season go down the drain next Sunday and gleefully watch the Bears get stomped in the playoffs.

As great as Matthews is, we can win in the playoffs - if we get there - without him. As excellent as Cobb is, we could win without him - it seems that stupid hyper-caution may be the only thing keeping him off the field too. However, we NEED Aaron Rodgers. He is the difference between the mediocre to bad team we have seen for way too many weeks now, and a team that can beat anybody. And Rodgers should be back on the field - plain and simple. He wants to play; The coach wants him to play; The "organization" i.e. the God damned GM is the only thing preventing it.

With him we win, possibly all the way through the Super Bowl; Without him, we struggle to beat crap teams and have no chance against good teams.

I want the Packers to make the playoffs. I don't give a rats ass about a higher draft pick. I don't care if we lose in the first round. Well, I care but if it happens it happens. It can't happen if we don't play in it and I guess that's what some people would prefer. They thought process goes something like this.

OOOOOHHHHH we can't lose in the first round of the playoffs. That would be so embarrassing. I don't think my delicate constitution could handle it. Better we don't make it at all then I won't have to put up with people teasing me for losing. I can't handle a little teasing, I'm a big pussy.

I want my team to represent the NFC North for 5 reasons #1 If we do it means we have a chance to win it all. #2 If we do it means we won the division. #3 It means the Bears didn't win it. #4 It means the Lions didn't win it. #5 It means the vikings didn't win it. Those last 3 reasons should be enough for anyone to hope we win it.

I know some people get tired of all the "we can do it if..."talk and I can understand that. Even so I think those people who talk like that realistically know the chance of us doing it is slim but a slim chance is better than no chance and a belief that it can be done IMO is better than the belief that all is lost.

After all, we are talking about a belief here. We are not talking about betting your life or a loved ones life. We are talking about thinking that our team can win it all. Where is the harm in that as irrational as it may be. None of these people are saying "if we make it and if we get so and so back we will crush everyone and win for sure" If that were the case I'd be the first to say take them out and shoot them. Those people would be idiots.

The way it stands we fans who want the Packers to win the division simply want our team to win every game they play. We know it is not possible or in some cases reasonable but we don't care. It's a game, it is not real life and it really carries no consequence. We know there is a chance we will lose in the first round but we also know there is a chance we will win and that is what really matters.

If you are afraid they will lose in the first round and that embarrasses then by all means root for the Bears on Sunday. It doesn't make you less of a fan because fans are entitled to root for their team in whatever way they choose. If that's what you choose however then I would just invite you to read my signature...

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone

BUT, if we do go one and done, at least it will NOT be to an inferior team. When we go out there and PROVE we are the better team, but shit ourselves anyway, THAT is demoralizing.

Martha Careful (23-Sep) : Not with Dalton apparently
Mucky Tundra (23-Sep) : Not sure what to make of the NFC South so far this season (outside of the Panthers being a dumpster fire)
