I've seen players do it before but not quite this emphatically. Call for the review I mean. When he jumped up the first place he looked was to the ref and as soon as he saw the incomplete pass signal he went crazy. When a guy goes that nuts you just know he caught the ball. I also loved the way he says he wouldn't give the ref the ball back so they would review it. Smart of McCarthy to call the TO to give them the chance. I was wondering if they would. I know the cowboys hurried to get the next play off and it looked like they did actually snap the ball but the TO was called just in time. Of course they gave the TO back because the booth did decide to review it after all but it was close. Too close actually.

Would McCarthy had been penalized if he had thrown the flag. I know that throwing the flag on plays that are not reviewable can be a no no but what about plays that are initiated by the booth? If so that is wrong. Had we been out of time outs we may have been screwed had the refs not decided to review it or had they been too slow. The coach needs to be able to make the challenge anytime he feels the need as long as he has a challenge left.

Anyway, that may have been my favorite play of all time based on the reaction of the player afterwards. You notice he wasn't nearly as vocal on the one that was reversed that he didn't catch.

it's moments like these where players need to be aware enough to fake injuries.

Not on the Williams pick, but on the Shields pick: Am I the only one who's wondering why Shields wasn't flagged for throwing the ball away after the pick?

I think he threw it in the stands, which is not a fine. It was an interception and sometimes players keep the ball. This was basically Shields keeping the ball.

Now if Shields had thrown the ball down the field, that would have to be flagged for delay of game or maybe unsportsmanlike conduct.

When you toss the ball into the stands, you're not delaying the game.

When you toss the ball down the field, the officials have to hunt it down, and bring it back to spot the ball, thus delaying the game.

Just basing this off observations, I have no laws or anything to support it.
