How many of those guys were starting for the 1st time in their 4th season? My guess is not many. That says a lot about Rodgers considering this is basically his rookie season.

When you throw in the fact that he's following a sure hall of famer (look at how QB's in Miami and Denver have done) and everything that happened in the off season - it's even more impressive :thumbright:

Miami still hasn't found their QB of the Future, and Dallas and Denver have only done so in the past 2-3 years. It's very comforting knowing that we won't be going through that same process. WE could very well have 2 QBs over a 25-30 year stretch.

I had more faith in Aaron than most did and he outperformed even my lofty expectations. The season was ultimately a failure, but there are a lot of positives, and this kid's play ranks unquestionably at the top of that list.

Up to last week because this week isn't over yet...

6th in TDs (should go up because he threw 3 today)
7th in Yards
10th in Completion %

Now here's something you probably don't know...
6th in rushing yards for QBs
1st in rushing TDs for QBs

Meanwhile, playing with one of the top WR sets however an absolutely horrible OL. So if you want to compare Aaron against other starting QBs today, he's doing pretty well, I should say. That's out of 32 starting QBs.

I agree with Dhazer about not comparing QBs of the past vs QBs of today. Even since Brett Favre's 4th year, the game has totally changed. You can't touch a QB today. It's like flag football for QBs. You might as well put skirts on today's QBs.

I saw this on the espn boards..

If Rodgers 1st year starting is near those numbers, which they are, how can you be worried about the QB for the future?

Rodgers- 6 wins 10 losses

Worse than everyone on the list. The only ones even remotely close to this bad were Jim Kelly, Peyton Manning & Dan Marino who had down years in their 4th seasons. Right before their 4th seasons and right after each their 4th seasons they did better to the tune of 10 - 14 wins. I think the comparisons can stop right here. And i'd say that not one of those quarterbacks had the receivers we had this year.

And comparing a 2000's qb to 80's qb's is equally absurd. By that logic, there are around 18 - 20 guys in this season alone who performed as well as all of those hall of fame qb's.

My comparison is no more absurd than comparing Rodgers stats in a pass happy, o-coordinator happy league, where THE RULES ARE DIFFERENT(Illegal contact, pass interference, skirts on QB's, creative o-coordinators). I guess some people might say that Shaun Hill is better than Warren Moon because his 4th season was better or Jason Campbell is the next John Elway because his stats are similar.

Point is, you can play with the statistics and make them say whatever you want if you take the time.

Grave - That's exactly why I think it's absurd to compare stats of yesteryear with today's QBs. That's why I think the ONLY legit comparison is comparing today's QBs with today's QBs, and Rodgers is in the top 10 among 32, easily.
