Can we mark this thread as one to revisit after the season? All this praise about the team early on (a.k.a. hype and excitement) seems to happen every year. I'd be curious to compare postseason comments to preseason comments.
I don't post a lot on the forums I visit (most people already say what I am thinking better than I can, no need to pile on) and I agree with this statement. It is the nature of being a fan, optimism and glass half full thinking. That being said, this year I am slowly jumping on the excitement bandwagon. It seems to me that the team has improved at almost every position group, and I am not counting the training camp wonders. I think we are better across the board except at O-line (but only because of an unfortunate injury to Bulaga, and despite that I think the line is roughly the same as last year) and kicker. At every other position group we have either added someone with star potential, gotten someone with star potential back from injury, or added almost-starter quality depth.
Last year the Pack went 11-5 despite some obvious and serious issues. This year those issues appear to have been corrected (except for kicker). Even if the other teams in the league improve from last season I think that the Packers have gained ground and have the potential to be dominant. Regardless, it looks like this will be an entertaining season.
