The risk of getting sacked, throwing an interception, or fumbling(Jets vs. Bills) is too great especially with our weak pass protection and the Bears playing for their season. It just doesn't make sense, from any perspective, at all.

Wait Donovan.. they can end in a tie at the end of overtime..

Personally I enjoy the College setup.. adds to the game with equal chances and isn't some boring snooze fest.

I agree, college OT is much more fun to watch. In the NFL they should at least give both teams a possession then go in to sudden death if they need to have it that way. Just make the first team to get the ball kick off if they score.

Now that I have read the replies, and have had a little more time for the game to wear off, I am still really upset with the final drive. Not that the last three were runs, as much as the runs that were chosen.

QB, WR is the strongest on the offensive side of the ball, and to go out with three plays that just sell out run. It was apparent that MM was going for the FG. Yet ran some lame plays that have no chance of moving the ball. At least line up with the appearance of possibly passing. Call a run, that has a quick pass option. If the D backs off the WR switch to a quick pass. Those last 3 runs just completely took the best 3 players on offense out of the game.

To me it looked bad and showed little faith in the QB and offense. It showed, I am going to run plays but not take a chance with the best offensive weapons on the team.

In that case should have just taken a knee.

Precisely. Tossing a strange sort of parallel pass guaranteed to be nailed to the turf -- or driving straight into an impenetrable wall of defenders -- is no more productive than just taking a knee.

I knew someone would call me on it if I didn't add the obligatory words "in regulation." :spiderman:

I think the only time games should go to overtime for ties is during the postseason. Sure, ties aren't as sexy, but they are realistic, and I'd rather live with ties than a sudden-death system that favors killing the clock for field goals instead of going for touchdowns. Allowing ties would create greater urgency at the end of games.
