Could the eagles have flown Frodo into Mordor?

It will take someone who is more up to date on LoTR lore than me.

But it is an interesting question. I contend that the Eagles of Manwë simply would not have done it. I thought I read long ago that they didn't want to get that involved into the dealings with elves, man and the like.

I took Lydia to see The Hobbit a couple months ago. We recently watched the first lord of the rings movie and have number two and three on deck so when we go an see the second and third hobbit, we know what is up.
