Cameron Wake.

Might be just what the Packers need on Defence.

For those of you who say the CFL Sucks- Go away... You probably never seen what this guy does.

The guy is a freak, and has an 11' 8'' vertical leap.

The Packers should be lining him up to come into Green Bay for a visit. I know the Colts have him in their sights.

The B.C. Lions defensive end was named the CFLs outstanding defensive player Thursday at the leagues awards banquet for the second straight year.

Voting for the award was conducted by the Football Reporters of Canada as well as the eight CFL head coaches.

Wake, who was also named the CFLs top rookie last year, enjoyed a stellar sophomore season. After recording a league-best 16 sacks in 2007,

the six-foot-three, 260-pound Wake was a quarterbacks nightmare in 08 with a league-high 23 sacks, accounting for a third of the Lions overall total of 68.

He also had five forced fumbles - a league high - and recorded 65 tackles.

Wake has been an amazing story in the CFL, joining the Lions as an unheralded free agent and being converted from linebacker - the position he played at Penn State - into the leagues top pass rusher.

But its unlikely Wake will be back for a third CFL season. Hes entering into the option year of his contract with the Lions, giving him a window to sign an NFL contract in the off-season. Wakes success in Canada has garnered him plenty of interest south of the border, making it very likely he will sign a lucrative NFL deal during that time.

Some body taped money to the ceiling of the lions dressing room. No one on the team could reach it....

Except when Cameron Wake walked in...

The funniest part about that video was seeing the guys race for it when he threw it up in the air.

I would take a stab and say he is in the CFL because he was a converted from the linebacker position to defensive line? Maybe he didn't have the tools to succeed as a linebacker in the NFL.

He was a tweener coming out of college... but I believe there is clauses in the CFL contracts coming in that they can't opt out of the contract to jump to the NFL.. binding in nature.

If he is able to play end at that size, which he has shown, he will be playing in the NFL this season.. or at least on a roster.

Good find RP.

BTW.. the NFL should pluck more talent out of the CFL than they do.. there are guys up there that can play ball here.

I have a hard time adjusting to some of the minor rule variations... but it is a fine league.

What level of play do you think the CFL is to the NFL? Equal to 2nd stringer, end of the bench, practice squad - what?

Wild guess off the top.. about 5 percent of the roster makeups would consistently make an NFL team and a handful may start.

Most of the time it is NFL washouts going there.. but there are some of these small school guys (Justin Beaver types) and players that don't fit the NFL prototypes for positions, go up there and develop into very solid players.

With the World league failing and now the AFL falling on hard times.. the CFL talent level will increase, which means more of these kids will develop quicker with increased levels of competition.

With our near non existent pass rush this guy is worth a long look. He sure looks very quick and that jump could really bat down passes at the line when he gets hung up. Maybe a kgb style player and a special teams monster.

Didn't we get a guy from the same CFL team that Beaver went to? He had a very Green Bay Packer name... He was like a DE or DT, went down to our practice squad, then got released? I'm pretty sure we had signed him the same day or week that the Beav was signed by the (?Roughriders?)

I think he got released on an injury or something, and I still think that the Beav didn't get a complete fair shake...was definitely rooting for him in a "R u u d y" kind of way... Thoughts/help w question?

beast (6h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (6h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (16h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (16h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (18h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (19h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (19h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (20h) : Thank you
wpr (20h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (20h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (20h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (20h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (20h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (21h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (21h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (21h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (21h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (21h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
