How many teams in the league that lost that many starters would be 7-4 right now? We had it worse in 2010, but we had a more solid O-line then. Should be interesting how this all plays out. There's no crying in football boys - time to jump on our QB's back and let him carry us again. Right now, Matthews is the biggest loss - Jennings being second.

Bishop wasn't eligible for the reinstatement rule because he wasn't part of opening day 53man roster.

The only benefit would have been possibly being able to use on Woodson opening a roster spot for to bring in somebody maybe.

Time to call Ryan Grant!!!

Or did someone else already pick him up?

He should have a good 10 weeks left in that old body.

MAKE THE CALL TED!!!!!

EDIT: Just checked RG still a free agent!!!

In future years, only players that are placed on IR after teams make their cuts to a 53-man roster will be eligible. For this year only, the league made an exception to the rule because initial roster cuts have already started. The Green Bay Packers, for instance, could "reactivate" linebacker Desmond Bishop from IR before Aug. 31 at 9 p.m. ET. Bishop must remain on the Packers' 53-man roster through the league-mandated cutdown period and would then be eligible for the roster exemption.

Using it on someone else really wouldn't have meant much anyways. With all the other guys who have been put on IR there have been open roster spots all year.

The injuries this season are dramatically more damaging to the Packers team than in 2010. Do not kid yourself. The players lost in 2012 were far more valuable than those lost in 2010.

I think Cedric Benson is better than both James Starks and Alex Green. With that said, I think the combination of the two will more than be enough to soften the loss of Benson.

Just like the other guys they have placed on IR prior to Bishop, they could have designated them as well. Point was he could have been eligible.

But at the end of the day, maybe returning in the playoffs after a whole year off makes the issue moot. By doing it that early, they would have given up the tag for an area at that point where there was depth. Unlike other areas, like the Oline, where the tag would have maybe been more valuable to the team.
